Hello VFRD,
I just did a full syn oil change today and am thinking about putting in the reccomended amount of fi cleaner in on next tank full. My bike runs great, no bogs nothing, however it has sat fora while prior to my purchase so I am wondering Iif it would be a good idea. If so, what brand? Another piece of info, I ride as often as I can.

The guys on the Corvette forum suggest a bottle of Techron in the tank on a regular basis.
I would say 1/4 bottle for the VFR.
My Vette purrrrssssssssss like a kitten when I use that stuff.
You can get it from Wal-Mart for around 5.00.

A couple of ounces of SeaFoam at a fill-up will help too...

I have used Seafoam fairly often - nothing wrong with it. Even at that though, when I removed the injectors and sent them off for cleaning / blancing, the report said I had only fair to good spray patterns (excellent being the best), which surprised me. I thought I had been doing good fuel system maintenance with Seafoam and wouldn't have much of any issues. It looks like sending the injectors out for service is the best way to really get them cleaned out. YMMV.
I don't believe in the whole magic fix in a bottle thing. I think cogswell is right, if you want your injectors cleaned, just pull them out and send them away to be cleaned.
Really hard to know if one is really doing one's engine any good with all these "treats" we pour in our tanks for our engines......
I betcha more than half of us who do, have bikes that don't really need it. It's most likely things we do just to make us feel good.
Kinda like when one gives their dog those Bacon flavored "Begging Strips".......
Have you ever seen how these places do a fuel injector cleaning? the motor is caughing, smoking ect during the procedure. Pretty horrendus, if you ask me. I dont run alot of fi cleaner in the vfr, maybe a bottle every year, when I do stick a few ounces in, there definitely doesnt seem to be any detriment, runs good. Mostly I rely on my leaded vp racefuel diet, that stuff eats carbon like crazy, you guys soley on oxgenated pump fuel, Id luv to see the carbon buildup, like with california or michigan fuel.
Recently I stuck a gal of Vp in my High mileage truck(115,000 mile), trying to clean some carbon out, but that motor hasnt seen a steady diet to keep it cleaned out, I may try another blast after my next emmisions test.
