20$ Tire Balancer!

I did a tire change last week, a nice set of battlax S20's, at a friends garage using an automotive tire changer. I then did a little experiment to see if I could balance them myself using this [image: uploadfromtaptalk1374889209039.jpg] [image: uploadfromtaptalk1374889254260.jpg] It's an antique snap-on tire balancer that works great! Picked it up for 20$ in a yard sale. So be on the lookout! Jesse

I found it accurate to 1/8 of an ounce! Pretty stoked about my now free tire changes :)

Sweet! Now that I have 3 bikes, I need to get me a tire changing setup. How well does it work with the rear wheel? Is there some sort of adapter to allow for the offset rim?

I have the Harbor Freight Chinese knock off of the same set up. It's ok but probably a lot more flexible than the Snapon. You do need an adapter for the rear wheel, Harbor Freight discontinued them but you can make one from PVC pipe, google that to find the specs to make one.

No adaptor needed, the taper of the cones works for the rear as well:
