Dutchy, I'd say 'Nay. It seems a bit 'busy' and detracts from that clutch cover. But that's just me.

It is possible to over do it.  She looks great as is.   My $.02 is that if the farkle bug continues biting you to get an additional bike and start on that one.

  I say Nay mainly because the shape of the plate is all wrong. Do an adhesive 1/4" pin stipe tape number plate to have fun laying it out. Then do adhesive numbers inside. Stare at that for awhile and see what you think...

Voted a sincerely Nae ! Perhaps I got too attached to the stock image of the 750...... however, if the vision persist then what the heck, it should be at least interesting to see all that mods in reality... I did followed my vision with another bike and it felt very good to have it moded the way I wanted......after two seasons I had another vision...so I moded it again ... after that the bike won the prize for best looking bike in a same model bike contest two years ago..... The idea is that following your dream in spite of others midght just bring you the best looking bike according to .....the others :P . If you allow me I'll post some pics of that bike in differrent stages on your topic to see what I mean.

Well, long story short.....
 
Bought this bike , a (humble but loveable) Hornet 2001 :

Satin black paint matches the NACA duct and belly pan finish.....

I also thought of adding in black number plate areas at the tail cowl area, ala-RC45,, but I decided it will look a bit "overdone/trying too hard" on a 4th gen VFR that will most likely never see the track anytime in its life. I still might do something at the top front fairing around the lights to knock down the red a bit, which was the reason I blacked out the waist area of the bike......which I think got rid of the thick waisted look.....

Why not try some D-Noc covering first to see how it goes. At least that stuff is easy to remove if things don't quite work out aesthetically.

Yep, I'm with Beck on this one.

IMAO, you're now messing with Mr Inbetween. You've gone a bit beyond black highlights, but are not yet at two tone red/black.

Like Beck, I'm a highlights guy more than two tone...but if you're chasing a two tone look then committ to it.

I say yay, but with Beck's pittures as reference rather than the originals.. and a full size tank grip instead of the thin bar

I have been messing around to break up all that Red as well.

The tank pad and some fun ideas with black here and there will get it done.

I also trimmed my front fender down to a shape I like and painted that Black.

Tank pads are ok. Rear number I'd leave just the number and lose the black around it. The fuglywhatchamacallit under the tank has got to go.

$25 for 10 minutes more is not worth it......    :goofy:

Back on topic, thanks for convincing me to abandon the black tail.  Might go with black Stompgrips......

The tail number perfectly fits you and your driving style.

(In dutch 11 stands for "insane number" )

But i don't like it on a red VFR.
