Hi All,

Can anyone explain why I would blow the lights/dash fuse when I use my multimeter to probe for a power wire at the tail of my current VFR800.

I realise that is the fuse for the tail light setup, but I have never had fuses blow when testing for a power wire.

Any suggestions??  Please....I'm running out of 10A fuses

Cheers

Pete

Bad meter?

Hmmmmm!!!! Now there's a thought.

How does one test a testing meter?????

Testing for voltage or ohms.  If ohms, all the power points have to be disconnected.  If voltage and the fuses blow, see post #2

Testing for 12v for a power tap.

If I connect across battery I get 12.5 volt reading !!!!

It has to be either your meter (unlikely imo) or you are pushing the wire against the frame to probe it and the probe is touching the frame after piercing the wire....thus causing a short to ground.
