Winter Riding In Georgia

Hey guys, I am planning to trailer my VFR along with a couple bicycles and golf clubs down to Brunswick GA. next Jan. 9-Feb. 20th, 2015

Wondering what the riding is like and what roads are not to be missed, thanks in advance!

Brunswick is in South Georgia.  You'll be very close to the beach but you won't find very many good motorcycle roads down there.  The best roads are in North Georgia and surrounding areas of North Carolina which are about 350 miles away.  Your best option would be to stop for a few nights and stay in the mountains while on your way there or back.  There are way too many great mountain roads so I would advise to give yourself at least 2 days to explore if possible. The winter in South Georgia is typically mild and will range from the 40 - 60 degrees Fahrenheit.  If you are going to be in the higher mountain elevations you will definitely want to bring some thermal underwear to wear under leathers or even a one piece suit.  Also note that in January there is a possibility of snow/ice at the higher elevations.  If you decide to ride North Georgia let me know and I can send you some routes or GPS routes.

I was supposed to be in Brunswick this week but my meeting was cancelled.

Thanks guys, about what I thought just wasn't sure how far north I could go on the bike safely and comfortably. I'll just have to watch the forecast, I have six weeks so finding a few warm days in the mountains should be a reasonable expectation! I'm thinking of riding over to New Orleans and maybe down to the keys too.

I know it's a year away but I just sent a deposit on the little carriage house to be sure I'm committed to taking the time off!

I would highly advise a trip to the Barber Motorsports Museum in Birmingham, AL.  It is a must for any motorcycle enthusiast! Plan on spending between 3-6 hours there if you decide to go.  It is conveniently located on the way to New Orleans too!
