Hands down this has to be getting my suspension properly set up yesterday by someone who knows what they're doing. As well as adjusting for my weight the rebound damping now no longer fires me out of the saddle on bumpy roads and the whole bike is much more stable, planted and comfortable. Goes round corners properly without the front digging in. All feels nicely balanced.
Took about 15 minutes and cost me £30 (about $50?)
I have a whole new bike for peanuts.
This got me wondering on a cost/benefit scale what has really worked for you?
That's a tough question. Because the first mod I've made to every VFR I've owned has been a Givi D200S Touring Windscreen, that would be my nomination.
Added comfort, reduced stress, drier in rain, warmer in cold and better gas milage.
$75 for my first, free for my most recent... Thanks Lobster!
Dunno. Probably disabling the O2 sensors, and taking out the throttle slack; cost me nothing (stole the resistors from #2Son's electronics box). But the very first mod I can remember doing was fitting a FactoryPro Evo-Star shifter kit, before the transmission developed the crappiness every Honda I've owned has had.
Without a doubt, creating my own bike rack. Been everywhere from Southern WV to the Canadian Border and in between hitting up great riding centers and great roads to get there.
I guess the best return on invest has been my Voltmeter... $3 on ebay, I installed in the gauge surround... haven't had one in my other VFR's but I have suffered a couple of R/R failures, and now I look at it all the time!
New set of levers from ebay for less than €30. Look good, as long as standard, adjustable and comfy.
VFRness for €50 (or thereabouts), stops worries about the electrical system which is a big deal considering without the electrics it just ain't running.
