I just installed this kit and I like the look.  It really cleans up the ass end of the 5th gen.  However, I ran into two issues, primarily becuase of the BEYOND HORRIBLE instructions which came with the kit.  (one page xeroxed paper was all there was...)

Issue 1

The kit requires cutting the plastic tail tray and then has you bolt up the stainless steel piece to cover the hole.  No issue.  However, as the instructions were so bad, I wasn't sure exactly where to cut and therefore the fit of the new steel piece is not perfect and I am worried water will get up in there and corrode the contacts on the computer.  (there is a slight "overlap" gap between new steel piece and the plastic tray)  I can't just seal up the gap as the steel piece is connected to the tail tray and if I ever have to take the tail off....  Thoughts? Ideas? dont worry about it?

Issue 2

Also while making the above referenced lousy cut with my 4" angle grinder, I cut slightly deeper than I needed to not knowing the computer was directly behind what I was cutting (that would be a good sentence to add to the instructions...).  I scuffed the case of the puter about 1/8" deep.  I don't think I made it through the puter case into the electronics inside, and the bike seems to run fine...no different than it did before.  Need I worry?

Thanks.

Silicone is your friend.  Seal the gaps and fill the gouge.  You should be fine.
