I also have some questions for everyone:
The 99 vfr800 which I bought does not have any bar weights fitted (my hands get seriously numb) and was wondering if anyone has tried the Vibranators (http://www.vibranator.com)? or should I just try and get the original honda parts or the cheap ones on ebay?
I would also like to get my wheels polished (i am in the eastern suburbs of melbourne, australia). Is there a good/reliable place to get this done?
Lastly, does anyone else out there get a sore arse (ass) from the standard seat (coz I do)? if so, is there a good replacement?
Welcome Aboard Sharms! To answer your questions, I've heard good things about vibranotors but have not tried them myself. Not familiar with your part of the world so can't help you on the wheel polishing but many members have done this themselves and I'm sure they'll chime in soon. As far as the seat, I have a Sargent and it works well but for the cost it might be an option to see a local upholsterer, especially if you plan on carrying a passenger as even the Sargent has more to be desired for passengers.
Is one of your headlights out? AFAIK, all 5th gen bikes should have both lit, even on low beam. Not sure if this is different with some non-US models though.
Aftermarket seats can be purchased from either Sargent or Corbin. There are many differing opinions on which is more comfortable. I have had poor customer service from Corbin in the past, so I opted for the Sargent. Both have distributors in Australia.
1. I haven't tried the Vibranators. But, the riding experience for my hands improved greatly after switching to some Klim gloves recently.
3. I've had my Y2K VFR since new, and it still has the stock seat. If I'm not riding regularly, it's a little uncomfy. On an overnight trip last weekend it was fine as I've been riding more.
And, I think MadScientist is right. The photo appears to show that you have a headlight out. I realized last weekend that I do, too. (I need to start carrying an extra bulb on trips as I recently replaced both. Hopefully, I don't have an electrical issue.)
Stock seat suits some, doesn't suit others. There are plenty of aftermarket options which usually suit but worth checking one out if you can borrow one of a fellow VFR'er before you shell out A$A$A$.
Why would someone remove the bar end weights? If OEM are cheaper, I'd opt for those, they work fine.
lol, i read it alot here about people looking for a corbin or sargeant seat or modding their stock seat. to me, the stock seat is pretty comfy (coming from a CBR600RR before my VFR)
