Hey all, due to some technical issues, the last thread I made about this meet has vanished. Big shout out to Miguel for getting my account sorted and back online. Below are the basics of the ride that I am planning for the weekend of October 10-14 2014.

Location: Greenes Motel in Boone, NC. They have 15 rooms blocked off for us till the end of September. PLEASE CALL THEM TODAY! All rooms have 2 double beds so we can bunk together and fit more riders. When you call, just let them know you are with VFRD and Ben Ealy. rate is 69$ a night. Denny is the GM that I have been working with. The phone number is 828-264-8845

Costs: I am not attempting to host an event as complicated as Baileyrocks baby, Tmac. So drinks and food will be up to the individuals and I will not be providing any beer or BBQ.   With that said all costs to the participant will be their own (i.e. gas, travel, lodging, food etc...) The only cost I can imagine adding will be for Tshirts.

Shirts: I am not opposed to having a tshirt drawn up and made for this ride, however, I would need someone to help in this area. So if you are interested please let me know!

Ride Groups: Any groups will be split up as we come and I will not be arranging any pre-planned rides like we do at Tmac. Routes will be made up on the day of, and suggestions are always welcomed. The PACE will be observed as it is with any other ride. Safety and fun are the name of the game!

Please comment on this thread so I can determine the level of interest. Riders of all skill levels are welcome, and it doesn't matter if you do not ride a VFR. Feel free to invite non-forum members as well, the more the merrier.

I will update this thread if I think of anything more. I hope everyone is able to attend, I'm looking forward to it!! :wheel:

Asheville would be a decent area for a ride.  Good sorrounding roads(for rides), plenty of lodging choices, nice restaurant selection, etc...

Oct can be nice and cool (not necessarily cold) in Asheville, should make for some very nice riding with the fall colors in full effect.

Tempted.  Voted for Asheville, as I my father has a place 20 minutes away in Flat Rock.  Might be time to make a trip down to visit him.

#4

Ashville is farther for me... voted for Robbinsville for someplace different then TMAC but still in the heart of the mountains and National Forests

#5

I voted for JC because it is 15 miles away and I am lazy...  But Asheville is cool too, only an hour and a half away.

#6

I'd say either Asheville or Boone. Love them both but would tend to lean toward Asheville just because of the road/motel/restaurant choices are a little more plentiful. Having said that, I'm still voting for Boone.

Robbinsville is dry, that's why we don't stay there during TMAC..... too far for a b-double e- double r-un....

I am up for whatever, although am all about the Microtel in Franklin.  Boone would be great, as would TN.  Although, I was thinking Mountain City as opposed to Johnson City.  Might not be able to make all the days due to work, but still interested for a partial run.

I would be in. I will be staying near the gap the 11th-19th. Maybe meet up one day.

#11

I would normally be signing up for a fall trip to the mountains, but I'll be out in California.

#12

Get your votes in! Looking like Asheville will be the winner, but we shall see...

Great roads north of Asheville. Good roads, motels and camping around Hot Springs!

Count me in only if you leave Tweety Bird home and bring a real bike! (Just kidding - I'm jealous!)

Well based on this poll, I have around 20 people interested. I have been working a lot but I am going to have hotel information posted up here by the end of this week. The meet will be in Asheville. Stay tuned...

Made it home last night about 930. Had all kinds of crazy weather along the way. Rain, cold, zero visability fog, more rain, more fog, thunder, lightning, more rain, 40 mph cross winds. And a road side consult with the North Carolina State Police.

Can't wait till next year!

Except  for  road side  consultant !

Did the consultant require your payment?

Yeah.....$218

What a deal, eh?

:pissed:    A holes  !!

My bike performed flawlessly. Didn't even require a "cat nap". [image: emoji12.png]
My pics all went on the FB page cause I'm lazy. At least I gave some teasers all weekend.

:comp13:  What is this "nap" you speak of? I surely wasn't a part of that! :goofy:
