Hello all,

I had a 5th gen until two years ago, and still have a clean title frame and most of the parts to build a 5th gen, but just picked up a 20k mile, nearly mint 96.  It has a two brothers high mount, throttle meister, heli bars, and a few other extras.

I bought I knowing it would not run unless it has the choke on, but with some good carb cleaner additive the choke does not need to be as far done as when I picked it up 3 hours ago.

I think I am going to replace the few imperfect parts on this ( top triple has scratches from a key chain, the right black lower has scratches,and some middle square thing on the tail piece) and make this bike look like new.

I will get a few pics up later on.

This bike will make a nice addition to my collection of 90's sport bikes.

Yeah, I called right when the ad posted even though there were no pics.  I would have picked it up the same day but it kept raining.

I am pretty sure I will need the jets cleaned or replaced because it will not idle without the choke giving it at least 2k rpms. It will die if not.

The left front caliper drags and the front tire needs to be replaced. Aside from that, the bike is pretty nice.

Sorry you missed out, if I ever sell it I will message you, but this one seems to be a keeper, it rides so much better than my 5th gen did. It seems lighter and quicker steering.

I am thinking of doing a china carbon fiber vinyl wrap on the right and left lowers. Not sure how well it will hold up to the heat though.

I have 3M clear vinyl on both lower cowls on my 5th gen and they hold up to the heat fine, so I doubt you'd have an issue if you wrap the lower and mid cowls on your 4th gen.

I have a Corbin seat for you...leather with red detail..hardly used..8 years old but in good condition..will send pics if interested. It was too hard fo my butt..got a Russell.
Rode my 96 today..56k..runs like new.

Never tried the carbon fibre wrap from China, but, if I were to offer a suggestion, most of the other stuff for bikes that seems to come from China appears to get less than stellar reviews. Might want to try a local company that sells something similar. Having tried to help a friend install some vinyl graphics on his bike a while back, my suggestion would be that a hair dryer is your best friend. The wrap is really hard to form around inside corners and curves without really distorting the pattern on the film. Try getting some sheet stock in a cheap color, clear or whatever and practise a bit with putting on the film on around compound curves. Once you are comfortable, THEN go to work on your bike parts. Will likely save you hours of frustration and a bit of cash at the same time.

You also mentioned about replacing a little square piece on the upper part of the rear cowl. Check this out........Posted in VFRW classifieds on July 28th so might still be available.

Yup, you'll find out that it will be hard to ever give her up once you start riding it and fall really in love with the bike....Just ask our friend Dutchy about his 4th gen "Redslut".

The 4th gen is not considered the "Quintessential VFR" by many for no reason....

No, the 4th gen was never perfect, but it was, and still is, really good!.. :fing02: :fing02:

Mine was pretty cheap too , but it had been dropped and the front fairing was trashed but the bike itself is immaculate.
I wanted a custom / naked thing anyway, and was lucky to be in the right place at the right time - and hence my project began.
