Techspec tank pads or similar

Anybody install pre-cut TechSpec pads that fit well for the knee pads? Or something similar? I can't find anything decent locally so I need to order on-line, but don't want to play the return game too much....

I've used TechSpec grips on my VFR and FZ6. Love the product and the company is great to deal with and stand behind their product. Had a chunk de-laminate from the sticky backing after a year of use and they sent me a new sheet at no cost! I've used the thicker "Snake Skin" material as well as the thinner, easier to use "High Fusion" material. Both times I ordered blank sheets and designed my own tank pads to great success (was fun too).

For protection, and, depending on your taste, appearance, tech spec materials are good. Not so much for grip, though. For grip, Stompgrip is better. I have used both on my CBR and VFR's and just tonight installed a spare set of clear CBR Stompgrip on the new VFR. Very nearly a custom fit.

That will hold me over until the snakeskin Tech Spec becomes available again- it's currently back ordered.

I had Stompgrips on one of my CBRs and would recommend against them except for racing. The Stompgrip "dots" are very aggressive and will eventually shred the inner knee area of your leathers. The Techspecs are much softer and more comfortable for daily use.

I've had Stompgrip on my Kawi 9R a while back, and while great for track, it was a bit too aggressive for street for me, so I'm looking for something milder. Techspecs seems to fit the bill. I'm thinking about just ordering the sheet and cutting it myself.

You might want to verify where your knees actually contact the tank. I found that most of my knee/leg sits on that plastic trim part. So only a small bit of protection will be needed.

Important point you have made there. I only contact a couple of inches of tank above the trim.

I was gonna post a pic of the little pieces I used on the sides of my tank that came from a progrip set, but I seem to be having issues with the site lately.  The quote function has stopped working, I can't copy and  paste anything, and the link and image functions don't work.  I get the pop up window, but I can't hit ok or close it.  I also just replaced my "INTERCEPTOR" badges with eBay VFR badges from China.  They look similar, but much better than the European VFR badges.  I'll see if I can post the pics in my gallery.

Will do, next weekend is shaping up to be a nice one for my VFR - quick shifter, power routing for accessories, short levers and tank protectors...

Like  to  hear  about  the  quick  shifter  also .  Followed a  guy  on  a BMW S1000rr  with  a  quick  shifter . Man  what  a  bike .

I  can  see  how  a  drag  bike  can   use  it  but  it  sounded   awesome .

I think you were following a wrong bike :) I was tempted with the s1000r before I picked up the new VFR, Definitely a different league power-wise, thank goodness I'm old enough to not make decisions strictly on Hp... Not that it's a bad bike, it's awesome, but that power is just way too tempting... And price plus dealer's attitude crossed it off my list.

I was going back and forth on the quick shifter, but in the end, what a heck, one more farkle to add that is actually useful at times!

Definitely enough contact for me to warrant something stickier :)  Just can't decide on C3 or the High Fusion. Too many pros and cons for both. So I ordered both, will see which one wins!

Subscribed. I've been interested in these for a while for the 1200. Curious if you guys like the snakeskin or the fusion better.

Well.... the weather has been so nice and cool here in Texas this weekend that my mods will have to wait until next weekend, between a friend's wedding and doing over 450 miles of riding, I barely had a chance to check tire pressure and lub the chain after some rain...

I'm giving up on any mods right now until weather turns to crap. Between spending time with family and riding, no time to play in the garage. And I've got almost 2k miles on a bike that I don't use for commuting to work... At this rate I'll be changing tires before anything else...
