Maybe going to have to change a rear tire on the road without my SSA rear stand and without a center stand. Has anyone used a scissors jack under the engine to tripod against the front tire and side stand?

Not a SSA, but that's how I've always done it on my Norton using a floor jack.
Scissor jack might be kind of sketchy.
What about this little jewel ?
Not had to do it but I would say first loosen off the wheel nuts and do whatever is necessary to the exhaust (and brake calliper if it is a 1st or 2nd gen). Last thing you want to do is start heaving on wheel nuts with the bike balanced precariously on a scissor jack!
Also suspect that centre of gravity is such that jacking under the engine will lift the front not the rear. Probably need to find a point further back - maybe the rear shock linkage?

I think he has a CBR not a VFR .

I once saw a guy change a rear tire on his goldwing by just laying the whole bike over on its side. I guess sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures.
yes..
simply put the scissor jack under the swing arm near the rear shock, ..if your jack has a cup area. place on the shock pivot and lift the rear wheel 1 inch off the ground. AFTER its loose..

To all that have responded...thanks. I have a CB1000R not a CBR, so it's a SS swingarm on the same side as the side stand. In looking at it last night, no way to get the jack anywhere near the lower shock pivot...my Yoshi 3/4 mid pipe snakes around there. Maybe have to lever bike up on side stand and front wheel and place a support under mid pipe. Ziptie the front brake lever too.
