Make A Swing Arm Stand For Free Out A Bicycle

materials - old junky STEEL mountain bike from craigslist for free -cut off wheel/grinder -welder this stand is 100% from the bicycle. The supports are off the swing arm, the part that holds the hub pin is the steering stem, the 2 steering stem mounts are pounded into the steering stem after taking out the bearing races and that holds the hub pin securely. I have to make a handle for it but right now it works fine. After a shake test with the wheel turned to the right it didn't move so I have confidence in the stand.   the victim [image: 20140922_082309_zpsil2oi9fe.jpg] was going to use a 9/16 impact socket as hub pin but steering stem fits perfect. Dam  I  see  dozens  of  these  type  bikes  at  garbage  dump  every week .

I saw an aluminum stand for a ducati with a single sided swing arm for 150 dollars... I'm thinking that's not a bad deal...

I love the idea of home built stuff like this! Good for you for taking the initiative and running with it!  

I took a similar approach, used some recycled 1.5" .120 wall tubing.
