Just installed the Oxford premium touring heated grips on my VFR1200. I debated getting the OEM heated grips but they were too pricey for me.

I was very impressed with the high quality of the actual grips, the controller, wiring and connectors.
Before I purchased the latest version of the touring heated grips I had called Oxford with some questions and they provided great support and answered all my questions.
The actual installation on was straight forward but did take about 5 hours. I am very pleased with the final installation.
You will need to remove the lower faring and raise the fuel tank. See the excellent video link. The wiring and connectors will fit neatly in front of the ECU.
You will need to remove all traces of black paint and old glue from the left handle bar. I used waterproof sandpaper.
The old glue will need to be removed from right throttle sleeve. I used the cleaner "Oops" to soften the glue first.
You will also need to fully remove the ridge inside the new grips. I used a fine round file.
Double check the position of the grips before the final assembly with the super glue. I used some marking tape and drew a line on the tape from the new grips to the switch housings. I then cut the tape between the grip and switch housings. I then removed the new grips and thus had an exact align mark for the final assembly.
They grips work extremely well, providing lots of heat with good control. The auto-shutoff feature seems very reliable.
I would definitely recommend these heated grips.

On the left hand switch cluster. The grips come with all the hardware to mount the controller.

Nice, I am supposed to fly into Denver next Friday to pick up my new VFR. I plan on putting heated grips on at my parents house before my ride back to Tucson. I was going to get the OEM because I wanted something nicer than my usual Symtec heaters I usually do but the price was to high. I may go this route. 5hrs seems excessive for install time though.
I would like to install the " tecnoglobe gold" heated grips. Someone did already and feedback if possible
I've had the same Oxford heated grips on my 6th gen (07 RWB) since I bought it, and simply love them. Wonderful. You will not regret them. Great customer service as well.
mbd, normally unless you are running a fuse block of some sort people tap into a switched circuit like the tail lamp so that the heaters can't be left on when you turn the bike off, which circuit did you tap into to or, did you just go straight to the battery and hope to not forget to turn the heaters off?
I have aftermarket heated grips installed but hardly use it, to me it's not nearly as effective as heated gloves. The outside of your hands gets all the cold air, and heated grip doesn't address this issue. I try not to turn heated jacket liner because it feels so cozy, I tend to fall asleep.
This particular set of Oxfords that I have (and the OP has) turn themselves off if they are left on by accident after....11 minutes, I think it is? No need for any tapped circuit...it lugs directly to the battery. It's got a "battery protector" circuit built into the unit.
I also just installed a set of Oxford Heaterz on the VFR1200. Have not hooked up the electrical connection yet, as it won't get cold for at least another month or 2. I went with the "original" version for $49, which has a separate ON/OFF button. I will use a relay to switch power off with ignition, so no biggie.
I didn't clean off the grips as much as you did. I just sprayed windex on as a "lube" before pushing the grips in.
I also installed the grips with the cable pointing UP, for 2 reasons:
1. This gives the Omni Cruise a nice flat surface to brace against on the throttle side.
2. With the helibars, clearance against the tank covers is very tight.
