I wish they would make it out of steel rather than nylon.  Ethanol is nasty on plastic fuel tanks.  My speed 3 didnt fare so well/ Very common problem with the plastic tanks on Ducatis/  My RS250 tank swelled up and would barely fit back in the frame!

Maybe the "old" version V4s will come down in price. :beer:

Maybe I should keep my 1st gen and 2nd gen Tuonos and get a 3rd gen to go with.

While watching the last WSB race, I was enjoying the on-board from Guintoli's bike, particularly the deep V4 growl compared to the whine of the inline 4's and grumbling Duc twins. Although I was familiar with the RSV4 and its torturous (for the street) ergos, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Aprilia had translated it to something more streetable in the Tuono V4. Having just recently upgraded my '03 VFR to a new Interceptor, I wondered if perhaps I bought too soon. Sure enough, some research on the Tuono showed that it is a very capable machine which also mimics the sound I've come to love from Honda's V4's. And 170 hp! Alas, it's a rather inelegant design and the 90-100 mile range (27 mpg...) make it just a curiousity for the kind of riding I do. I got back on the new Interceptor and realized that statistics alone do not make a great motorcycle. I applaud Aprilia for adding wonderful new noises and a truly hot V4 to the market, I'm quite happy that Honda kept the mission to a beautiful machine which pushes my buttons for a great motorcycle. I'll look forward to riding the new Tuono, but remember only too well the "I'm almost empty" paranoia I used to have on my NT650 Hawk. Even if this one is a swing and a miss, it's great to have someone else putting out V4 motorbikes!  

I miss the Falco.  Aprilia was ahead of the naked/hooligan bike curve with it, and it never took off.  The Tuono is a reasonable replacement, but I don't like the paint job or the bumble bee front fairing.

Is it that low? Both my V2s get more like 33 - 34 mpg and 80 or 100 before you see the fuel light.

Actual range before empty I have not tested, but it's got to be at least 125 or more. The 07 bikes fuel gauge is very pessimistic. :rolleyes:

Not great, but you don't buy one of them for MPGs. :wheel:

For a road trip I would take the VFR. Because it gets better mileage, like 10 MPG more,

and if something breaks parts and help are easier to find.

Plus, it still has a good fun factor. :warranty:
