I want to get away from the traffic and hit some scenic roads come Spring.

There are lots of good roads SE of Madison and lots and lots of good roads SW of Eau Claire. I've ridden all over them with locals from Chicago and Minneapolis. Join a local riding group and have them show you around.

Galena area and north can be pretty nice. I'd suggest NOT riding around in Wisconsin after dark, though..

Thanks for that. CA is 47th on the list, ahead of neighbors AZ and NV.

I've seen deer around, they are there, but I always felt like it was not as big an issue as some places. :happy:
