How much of your day would I burn up to do this, if I have all the bleeders and the fluid and had it stripped and ready to go, etc? I've got a full working garage with tools and plenty of room if it would be easier done here. If we got close or something broke I wouldn't have to leave it in your way over there.

Anyone using Speed Bleeders on the 6th gen clutch, front and rear brakes? I've got them on all my other bikes all-around, and love them. Super easy to use. Now that I've had the 6th gen for a while, I was thinking it's time to swap out some fluids.
Anyone using them on your 6th gen? Anything different I'd need to know on the install/use etc?
Also, I've glanced at the lengthy process to swap ALL of the fluid out of the 6th gen linked brakes. What an ardual process, it seems at first glance. I was thinking I'd just install the bleeder, and just bleed the brakes like I normally do on a non-linked-brake bike. I'm guessing that because of all of the additional orifices in the linked-brake system I would not be getting ALL of the old fluid out....correct? If that's the case...that's not a big deal is it? I'm assuming the old & new fluid would mix, but so what?
Also, I count two bleeder nipples on the front left caliper, one on the right, one at the clutch, and two on the rear...that right? The Speedbleeder site lists two on EACH front caliper, and only one on the rear. Huh?
I did my brakes yesterday(Jan 28, 14) using the guide described by Skids above. The hardest one is the line between the Secondary Master cylinder to the Servo Proportional Control Valve - "C" in the procedure.
On my 2010 VFR, it seemed to me that this line, "C", had not been bled since new 4 years ago and the fluid was dark and gloopy. I would definitely recommend you do the whole system.
As a by-the-way, I installed a speed-bleeder at the Servo valve and did not have much luck with it. I reverted to the way it's described in the procedure and it worked fine. Probably just me not getting it right.

I've got them installed on my '99 with no ABS, and they work great. Just the brakes, not the clutch. Ordered them from the wire-my-bike guy on this forum. I have CRS syndrome and can't recall his name.

Yep. Saw that. That's what I was talking about being long & involved and needing two people to handle it.
Which is why I just wanted to do speed bleeders on the calipers all around, and the clutch, and bleed normally like a non linked, non ABS bike.

Damn! I was just out in the garage changing my tires I could have double checked the count and confirmed. I believe that unless you have the ABS model, only one PCV bleeder is required, but the rest of your count looks correct. As far as 'SS" over what, non stainless, which are made of brass. SS do not corrode, or at least don't very easily.
I've circled the key difference between the SB8125 and SB8125L (circled). The nipple is longer and the bleed hose stays connected better than the the shorter one, and if bleeding solo, a lot easier to not have to worry about the hose popping off.

Mine is ABS (I think the how-to posting here was on an ABS as well), so I'll get two of those then, but you're still suggesting they be LL and not L, right? To me, it looks like the LL version has a longer threaded part. Just wondering if the hole is deep enough for that before bottoming out.
Hope the additional ABS thing doesn't add any further drama to this...
Wow. The SS ones are $15 each. The non-SS are still $8. I'm pretty sure all my others are non SS.

I was one of the group buy of braided hoses recently and it seems like a good idea to replace the bleed nipples when I replace the hoses.

If you've never used Speed Bleeders, they are indeed awesome. So much so the OEMs should be putting them on at the factory on all bikes, I say. For $7 USD (regular) or $15 USD (stainless) each, they are far superior in design to the OEM ones for a small piece of change.
Ok, have e-mailed wire-my-bike and it's $20 to deliver to UK. I'll go with them unless there is a better alternative over here.

Why is it we live so close to one another and yet we no so little about each other and our bikes? I have speed bleeders on all of my bikes and I have bled the 5/6 gen brakes more times than I should be doing i.e. Other members bikes too. I can say that if you do get speed bleeders, get the SS version I believe is the SB8125-SS BUT get the SB8125L-SS in place of the SB8125-SS, the bleed nipple is just a smidgen longer and it allows more area for the bleed hose to cover and stay on better. Don't forget the PCV bleeder too, which is the SB8125LL-SS. FYI, my garage is open most days of the week and sometimes on the weekend, depends on if I'm riding or not!

For my ABS 6th gen I'm buying:
SB8125L qty. 6 (front left: 2. front right: 1. rear: 2. clutch: 1.)
SB8125LL qty. 2 (for the left and right proportional valve under the seat, apparently.)
These run about $7 each in the US. Try Amazon or Ebay. They both have them.
If you wanted the stainless steel ones (SB8125L SS and SB8125LL SS) they are about $12 on those sites as well.
Can anyone advise on the value of the stainless over the standard steel ones? It's a big price hike to go for s/s.

I'm sure the stainless ones are nicer, but I've had the standard ones on all my other bikes for....20+ years, and they all work A-OK. I went thru the same thoughts last week when I bought mine, and I got the standard ones again.
I don't see much benefit in the stainless, none of my Speedbleeders have discolored or rusted. No sense spending extra money just for the heck of it.
