Checking Out

Too all the fine characters on this site, many thanks for the stimulating experiences,thoughts and ideas you have shared here. The V4 is about the sexiest, adrenalin producing piece of modern mechanics that I have ever possessed, or was possessed by !!!

I took my last short ride on Silver a couple of days ago, fresh from winter storage/spring clean up. Popped in the battery and the machine started from 6 months of Canuk winter slumber on the first pulse...the lush sound at fast idle, a few throttle blips and then settled down to the snarly rumble that we are addicted to.... at that point I almost copped out of the plan to use it as a trade on a new machine...but a combination of finances, failing eyesight health, and a desire to ride less slab and more gravel kept me on target.

So here I am at the front desk... checking out of vfrdiscussion as an owner, but will continue on as reader of the forums (unless I am banned from the site for buying a Vstrom650)...

Now there is a wonderful '05 loaded up with all the long haul goodies available for a new owner (from a shop in Cranbrook BC), who ever it is, welcome them aboard when they come knocking.

Sorry to see you depart the V4 family, but glad you're still riding!  Keeps one young . . .

In a lot of ways I am happy that I defected to the "other side"  .... The new VStrom ..in my 1000kms of riding on some first class BC twisites has proven to be a very capable machine, and for a tall high CG bike, it lays over in the corners with ease,... only had one slight rear tire slide out ..corrected quickly..and i attribute that event to the new tires..being barely scrubbed in.

Another checkmark on the plus side ...the the onboard computer is indicating averages of 60+ mpg, note that the bike has not been "loaded for trips" and I have not exceeded the 5K rpm break in limit.... as they say in the ads .."mileage may vary"

I better stop here with the praises of the competition..I don't want the Slammer to put a hit out on me...If the dollars in my life arrived more frequently and in larger bundles, I would still have the VFR ...but unlike our respective governments, I can not afford a lot of dependents.
