Smart Phone Handle Bar Mount

I am not sure how to search for this. I have a Motorola Droid and I want to mount it to my handlebars. I see some mounts that look like a claw. But the pictures are just of the claw, nothing about the clamp used to attach the handlebar. Any ideas?

Look at ram mounts. They offer several different ways to attach your phone to your bike. http://www.rammount.com

RAM Mount with an X-Grip seems pretty common.

I have the Ram mount and X-grip and am sure one day I'm going to look down and the phone will be gone. so, it's collecting dust these days.

It's as generic as it gets, and not very sleek looking either, and not cheap.

I've never been an iPhone guy, but at least you can get the fitted cases for these to mount them better and more securely.

Buttons are impossible to press while riding (at least for me), so I think my next use will be under the map holder section on my tank bag.

I really wish there was an alternative, but I think there are just too many phone shapes and sizes these days for any company to keep up with.

You may want to rethink this. I had my iPhone in the phone pocket of my GIVI tank bag and it would over heat, especially if the sun was shining down on the bag. The clear plastic cover acts like a "greenhouse" and I actually had it happen several times with two different bags. I went with the RamMount X-Grip and so far have no issue and I can push the buttons, but I have the new iPhone 6.

^ I have experience the same issue with putting a phone in the map pocket of a tank bag.  I tried it 2 different times and and both resulted in in the phone over heating and shutting down.

This is what I use. It's mounted on my XT225 for this pic. I also have a Moto X which is bigger than my iPhone and when I use it, I just re-adjust the fingers. I've never had a problem with the phone going anywhere.

I have regular bars now, not clip ones. The bar is almost 4' in diameter. 

I don;t see any Ram mount bar clips that work. My bar is almost 4 inch in diameter. Ram Mount seems to be selling to the pedal bike crowed. There mounts go up to about 1.5 inch diameter. 

Your handlebar is 4 inch diameter? That would be ridiculous.

the ram xgrip works for me with an android phone. I do worry sometimes but it hasnt gone anywhere yet. I like the style posted above more but i must of missed it on the ram website when i bought the xgrip.

Get the ones that use the lever/perch mounts.

I've also wondered about how tightly the Xmounts would hold the phone.  Are they secure enough to handle cross winds and hard corning G's?

4" diameter bars? Standard tubular bars are either 7/8" or 1". Surely you are mis-stating what you mean.

I think they are, in my experience anyway. I have a rubber case for my phone which gives it more grip. I worry more about the fork stem mount coming out, since its just a rubber expanding plug.
the good thing with the xgrip is the versatility, being universal It should fit any phone. I wish the phone had a little hole in on corner so i could put a tether on it for piece of mind.

Also riding by myself alot i worry about getting in an accident and the phone being on the bike and not in my pocket if i had to call for help.

I use the X mount for my Droid, but wanted a back-up just in case the phone came loose. So attached adhesive hook velcro to the back of a silicone phone cover and secure it to piece of adhesive pile velcro attached to the black plastic circular middle of the X. Job done. I also use a Ram ball installed in the yoke hole. Keeps it close and out of the wind.   

this is my set up on my 2008 vfr ( 6 gen I think). 3rd season. no problems. I have a note 3 in a Spigen hard slim case.

drlovjr, do you have the model number/ name of the part that attaches to the bike? That doesn't come in the universal package RAM sells, does it?
