R\R is different for sure , the last thing I read about it was a computer control unit.

How about the crank and crankcase? If those are the same, then it should all bolt up? Flywheel?
If the R/R is in a different spot, and the power output wires are a different length, that would make it a new part# for sure. Maybe even a new R/R with a different plug.
Part numbers generally only tell you if the bikes use the exact same parts; whether different parts nevertheless fit is a question that can only be answered by educated guessing, trial and error. IOW, somebody's got to step up and order some parts!
(Speaking of which, whatever happened to the guy who was trying to fit an 8th-gen wheel and axle to an earlier model? I think he worked at a dealership, so could easily get the parts.)
