Short/ Ec3 Error And Flashing Heated Grip Indicator When Wet

Whenever I start the bike when it's gotten wet, like after a good rain, the error code shows up very briefly where the clock should be. It's only for a few seconds right after the engine starts so you really have to watch for it. The heated grip indicator on the dash as well as on the grips then flashes continuously with no pattern or pauses until I've ridden a few miles.

Honda says the code means there's a short somewhere. The shop had it a week, waterproofed every connection, and it still does it.

Anyone else?

I'm thinking it's related to the add on power outlet under the seat. There's no boot over the connection to the wiring harness.

Have a look at the attached diagram with error codes, to me it sounds like moisture has invaded your heated grip switch and causing issues. Have heard of others having issues with the switch. Perhaps giving the switch area a good warming up with a hair dryer then a squirt of WD-40 into the switch area might help. Best of luck hope this helps.

Thank you. Yes, that's what Honda told the dealer. They've waterproofed the hell out of the grips to no avail so far. I'll post up if a solution is found.
