Nuts, Bolts And Washers

So my fairings are out for paint and it's time to put back some small pieces that must have fell off over the years from the previous owners of the bike. I've noticed that all my cowl setting nuts (90111-KW3-003 - $3.20) are gone. Also when dealing with disconnecting the fuel tank I noticed that all the washers ( 90428-PD6-003 - $3.15) for my fuel line are gone. And I bet I'm missing more.

Question: Is there a place I can buy these cowl setting nuts for cheaper than $3.20 + shipping a piece? Regarding the washers, is a trip to home depot sufficient?

I've been looking up the prices on partzilla so what's your experience at dealers? The only ones near me don't service parts for honda bikes :(


A little off topic. I've seen that smoked turn signals are offered in europe. Any here?

For well nuts go to www.clipsandfasteners.com the parts you want are 16242 and 16248. They come in boxes of 25 but trust me, you'll end up using them eventually. I've actually used a few for other purposes with good results.

As far as the washers, try www.McMasterCarr.com and look for crush washers, you'll need to know the ID, OD and thickness but most likely you'll have to buy in bulk so might not be easy to just get a couple.

Since partzilla is suggesting that there's only one type of cowl setting, which one would you say is the one that we'd need for our bikes? Ordered 16248. After looking at partzilla I need 20 so thanks for that!

The difference between the 16242 and 16248 are the head size and length, from what I found both sizes are used but I don't recall if that's between the 5 and 6 Gens or on different parts of either bike. What I recall, the 16242 is for sure used on the 5 Gen frame holes, like for the front and rear cowls mount locations. Something tells me that there are a couple on the 6 Gen that I used them for as well. Either way, the 16248 is what seemed to match the fairing well nuts on both bikes.

So just for update I got those well nuts and with some plastic epoxy (loctite brand), I had laying around, sparingly glued them to certain parts of the side fairing. T

black, rubber fender washers are the way to go and work great against the paint. the exact size can be tricky, but i brought a bolt to the specialty hardware store and easily matched them up. remember to bring both the upper bolt and one of the lower with the collar as you need two different size washers.

I've not done it but I've considered putting proper-sized nylon washers between the cowl and the screw. 

Awesome thanks guys. Yeah, went to home depot and got some of the nylon washers of the 3/16's varietythat worked pretty spot on. Gives it a cool look too.
