So, my bike was pretty nice for two months... :-/ I pulled into my garage today after work, and leaned the bike toward the sidestand...which I had not deployed. Major duh. Got it back up pretty quick, but it slipped a little while down so I have some new scratches, but I don't think any of the plastic cracked (wow). Feeling so dumb. I most often pull up to the closed garage door, park it on the sidestand, and then push it in after opening the door (leaving the sidestand down). Just did it different today.
So, the left mirror stem broke; I'm thinking I'll just find a pair on eBay, unless someone has another suggestion.
Or, is it worth trying to superglue the stem?
Stick a fork in the one that broke - it's done. Some say the Emgo mirrors look and work fine - I prefer OEM - just depends on how much you want to spend. The OEM mirror for your '03 (8110-MCW-D01) is $60 on Procaliber's website (http://www.procaliber.com/ ) - $67 at Partzilla. If you can get the order over $99, Procaliber will ship for free.
Note that you posted in the 8th gen thread. Are you posting about an 8th or 6th gen bike?

I have replaced two mirrors with Emgo. They 'mirror' as well as OEM but the stalk paint fades quickly and the washers and fasteners rust a little.
I broke the right side stalk on mine about two years ago. Mother Honda wanted $100 and being OCD as I am, I forked it over just to have a same day replacement. However, I did try a tube of Liquid Weld just to see if it would work and it held up remarkably well. I actually TRIED to break it after it set up for a few days and I couldn't get enough leverage using my hands to pop it. I wound up selling the repaired mirror to another VFRD member who wanted the base plate for another use - thinking it was for a camera mount.
The STOOOPID part is, I was dropping the bike to the left after my foot rolled on a twig and as I leaned into the bike to save it, I put my helmeted head into the right side stalk and that was the only real damage.

sorry about your mishap. I think it all depends on what you want. You may be able to find used ones in decent shape but not perfect, and if you can live with it, why not. But if you need perfect, then you need to buy new (OEM or otherwise). I think it is hard to beat Honda for quality but they are a few dollars more.
Btw, join the club. I have used replacements myself. Don't ask...

I bought Emgo's for my 6-gen off ebay and I believe it was about $40 for the pair (much cheaper than OEM). Work the same as stock, but as noted above the hardware is more prone to rusting. No fading yet on mine.
