I didn't think about installing Tyga rearsets on my VFR, should have though, as they make solid tuff. I installed these instead, and really like them so far!!!
The shift linkage should be at a 90* and 90* angle. That looks like maybe 100* and 120* from here, not really terrible, but it doesn't look ideal. You might be able to fiddle with it (lengthen the rod by a half inch or so) a bit to tighten both the angles up to 90-ish degrees, without putting your toe in a weird spot.
Not that I remember. I had to order a longer shifter rod from Sato Racing, and turn the rear brake master cylinder 180 degrees to fit, but that's because of the exhaust I'm running, and a few of the other mods I've done to my VFR. They weren't hard to mount, and offer a good range of adjustability. The knurled foot pegs are nice and grippy!!!
Well i was a little fast on the trigger here. Went for a testdrive, gearing up works fine gearing down works to 4th gear, then i won't go any lower. Interesting start uphill from the petrolstation. Tried different adjustments with no luck.
stryker with rearset linkage having each linkage at 90deg to each other is optimal but should work even with less angle. You say even with current pic setup it's not shifting some gears, well to me that gear shaft spline linkage doesn't have enough leverage & also looks weak so your probably getting allot of FLEX with next to no leverage. For example know brands like vortex that use same linkage system lever but on piece billet which would create more leverage so more movement. Vortex sell parts separately & there gear spline linkage for say the CBR1000RR will fit your setup & probably fix the problem you have & it also suits the knuckle you have on the shaft as same as what they use.
I have CBR900 rearsets on my 3rd gen and they work very smoothly. I'd almost bet the problem you have is where the lever(s) are touching somewhere they shouldn't and so stopping you from down changing.... Just need to investigate what's happening there I think!
No touching anywhere, can't really find anything that's causing this problem, everything is lined up. What rearsets are those? Could post a pic of your gear clamp?

I used a different clamp than that supplied, though.
Here's a pic from when I was mocking it up to fit, before I realised the heel plate was better fitted upright, to avoid the swing arm.
I also had the shift upside down in this picture & your's looks as if the shift is upside down too - try turning the clamp 180 degrees... I think it may fix your problem.
If the rod touches your sidestand pivot you may have to bring the rod's connection outward like I did, but looking at your's - you might be OK!
The rod clears the sidestand pivot. If a flip the the gear arm 180' i will get a reversed shift pattern which i don't want. But i can always try it out and se how it works.

No, if you flip the arm so it points upwards, you'll get normal shift pattern.
The close up I have above is of a race shift pattern, which I did by accident when mocking up the rearsets. Easy mistake to make.
Forget the comments about race shift, you don't need that on a VFR for the road. :goofy:
Then you have a different set up, with the rod linked above the gear lever, not under as mine. No i won't be using gp shift, just gona try it out to see if it works that way.

Look at the above close-up picture I posted carefully and imagine the movement when you push down on the lever.
Then if you're still unconvinced - compare with a picture of a standard shift lever (Which points BACK, not forward!) and you should be able to see.... the close up pic above is 100% set at race shift.
If you want normal shift you'll need to flip the arm to vertical. I checked on my bike and it confirms this.
