I have been searching for different aftermarket exhaust and really like the Dam, but it seems to be a pain to obtain one and as for my second choice which is the Two Brothers M2 carbon. My question is how do to determine the difference in length. I see some that are much longer than the others in photos with a different angle. I would want the shortest version. Some are called black series and those look longer in the photo but is that really what stands for the longer slipon size?
Slip On ?
Two brothers is cheap, get what you pay for there. Just my $0.02

Finally figured out what kind of slip-on I wanted for my bike and ended up with a M2 black series in polished aluminum from Two Brothers. Wasn't my first choice, but found what I believed was a really good deal at MS. Must say I am much more pleased than I really expected, after watching every possible review I could find with Two Brothers and slipons in general. Noise level was too much for me without a suppressor, but I went ahead and ordered a P1-x suppressor at the same time so I was able to promptly install it after a brief testing faze without it With the P1x installed the tone is perfect. Tone is throaty, but not offensive in the least. Above 40 mph I really don't notice it when cruising and only a little when accelerating and the polished aluminum really looks good against my black vfr.
Always nice to get what you want, and to be surprised when it's better than you'd hoped!

when i try to post pics it says that they are too big....yesterday the limit was 1.3 MB, now it's 1.1 MB.....what's up with that ??
Now that the servo was removed with my redone exhaust, it allowed a space for a larger more effective horn, so I mounted a fiamm freeway with a homemade bracket in the servo space. One thing leads to another.

Try texting it to yourself? Your phone should automatically compress it before sending, but I don't know what the file size will be.

I thought this for a long time too, but 2Bros was almost the only name brand exhaust available for my 03 RC51 or my 03 VFR800. I bought them both in Ti, and was impressed with both the fit and finish. Great sound on both, plenty of readily available parts and two available customizable baffles. They won me over. That said, I sold my VFR800 and picked up a 1200 last week and it came with a DAM exhaust - highly recommended - it really suits the lines of the bike, has a great sound, and I have a stock and "sport" baffle that swap in and out in seconds to suit any sound output I'd like
After surfing and looking at all the aftermarket cans I think this is the best looking one I've found (IMO). It's also the most expensive at $1000. Akrapovic Titanium/Carbon fiber end cap/with luggage. It fills the space nicely and it's a great shape.

The most expensive? Yes, but the only one that retains the exhaust valve hence the price. Most defo the best looking can out there. I could never understand all that DAM hype - not in my type...

And I love the Dam. The world would be boring if we all liked the same things!

Agreed
The Akra was easily my second choice. They're usually my 1st as IMO between they're performance, fit and finish, and substantial racing pedigree (have a look at any WSBK starting grid in the last 7 years) they have solidified themselves as the best exhaust manufacturer in the world. That being said the DAM best emulates the spirit of the original exhaust and the various finishes they offer really make it look like it was part of the original design. I also enjoy the fact that it obscures the least of that beautiful rim/single sided swingarm. All others jut out into the wheel. It looks even more OEM when you see its fitments with the panniers on. That said, I can see someone preferring the Akra fitments if they didn't ride panniers and felt they needed to fill some of the space. For me the unobstructed swingarm really makes it look trick. Sound is the other consideration, and I think the sound is excellent, both in tone and loudness, and having the option of running 3 different noise levels to suit my preference on any given day is a big Pro.
The stock system on my ZX14 weighs in at 35+ lbs. I just got the Akrapovic Race Titanium and Carbon Fiber 4-into-2-into-1 full system for it and the whole thing including hardware is 8 lbs. Can't wait to get it put on and hear it.
I have a Scorpion system on my VFR that I shortened the cans two inches... I really like it.

I have the Akra and it is a well put together unit. I modified mine slightly by drilling a few holes in the baffle so its just about right now. I thought it was a smidgen too much without but not much when in. A few holes seems to have done the trick.......
Hi Guys,
I have just bought a slightly used 2015 model with a scorpion can on it.
I dont particularly like the sound of the scorpion without the baffle, and I think it makes the bike run too lean as I am seeing 5.2 litres/100Kms on the fuel usage readout, also it seems to have dropped a bit of bottom end torque compared to with the baffle in, when fuel usage was around 6 litres/100Km.
On my previous vfr800f I had an akrapovic can which I loved, and it didn't affect the fuelling at all.
I notice the Akra for the 1200 has a flapper valve similar to the OEM muffler.
My question is does the Akra flapper arrangement improve the bottom end torque, compared to a straight through can,and does it still work ok with the baffle out?
My next question is does fitting a sliponon the 1200 necessitate the use of a fuel injection controller eg PC5, and what do most people do as I dont plan to reinvent the wheel?
Thanks in advance
5.2 litres/100km??? That's 55mpg (UK) or 12 miles/litre. On a 1200? Are you doing 50mph everywhere?
I get around 10 miles (16km) per litre on the highway, less on the back roads.
I'd be very happy with that.
Back to your original question; I have a Dam slip-on which made the low fuelling even smoother and I didn't notice any change in the available torque so any change was minor.
I have an Akropovic on my Crossrunner and I'm not overly impressed. Sounds awful and the finish isn't that good. Waste of money Mr Honda!

Sadly a lot of our nice hills twisty roads are posted at 80 KpH (50 MPH), the state limit is 110 KpH anywhere, and our police are very diligent and have invested heavily in hi tech weaponry to combat speeding so yes, I am on the cautious side as the penalties are horrendous if you get caught. back on topic, in conversation with other owners, it seems my fuel usage is about right.
BTW I sold my crossrunner, hated it, thats why I have this bike.

Ah....confusion. I see in your sig you have an RC79 (VFR800F). I figured you had a 1200 because this thread is in the 1200 section. Forget all previous regarding fuel consumptions!
I get what you mean about the cops....we have more cameras (or scameras as we like to call them) than people, or at least that's how it feels however there are almost zero traffic cops out there. Trouble is, you can't argue with a camera but you can have a civilised discussion with a copper......usually.
Aren't there cameras in the UK now that read your plate at different locations and average your speed? That's going a bit overboard.

Yes, large stretches, usually on major highways (we call them motorways) or more minor highways (we call them simply dual carriageways) and even on some single-carriageway roads too. In a car, they are a total pain, but fortunately the cameras on most (not all) are aimed at the front number plate which is really lucky when you ride a bike! :cheerleader:
I just wish car drivers realised that the rules of the road don't change just because there is an average speed limit and stopped blocking the overtaking lanes "because no-one can overtake me" when on a bike, I'm not limited by the cameras (we can't overtake on both sides over here unlike you guys in the US, it's overtaking only on the right in the UK and left only in Europe).

USA allows passing on the left only
Dont see many following that rule, or enforcing it. but most people only pass on the right if the twit in left lane cant take a hint
6 hours ago, lsharkUSA allows passing on the left only
Really? Last time I was there (it was a few years ago), on highways I'm sure you could overtake on either side???
Maybe it was just me. :goofy:
only in steady moving lines of traffic....otherwise passing on the right is illegal
13 hours ago, lshark
the law is "keep right except to pass"
lshark, 03/02/2017 at 7:59 AMthe law is "keep right except to pass"
I assume you guys are referring to double lane highways, because in my expeditions to the US anything more than 2 lanes becomes a free-for-all. Whatever lane can move marginally faster than the next becomes the one to pass on
8 hours ago, MackerVFRRI assume you guys are referring to double lane highways, because in my expeditions to the US anything more than 2 lanes becomes a free-for-all. Whatever lane can move marginally faster than the next becomes the one to pass on
it would be ludicrous to think that two steadily moving solid lines of traffic would not be allowed to overtake each other,....that would cause chaos.....the free for all of darting from lane to lane like an NFL running back is what is illegal and dangerous
the law states that you must drive in the furthest most right lane except when in the act of overtaking another vehicle.....perfect example....a friend was pulled over and ticketed for driving in the far left lane on an open highway.....the officer explained to him that if an officer is responding at high speed to a life and death situation, he will be utilizing that far left lane, if he comes up on a driver cruising in that passing lane he cannot safely overtake that car because he is unsure whether that driver may pull right to yield to the officer at the last minute at the same time the officer has pulled to the right to overtake, possibly killing both of them......
