Hi all,

.   Was curious if anyone knows where I can either get mounting brackets or full setup side bags?? I really only need the mount or where to mount it to as I might just have a full rack custom made to carry a couple chainsaws and my climbing gear.. anyone have a good website to check??

Plug and play side bags for a 3rd Gen are for practical puposes unicorns.   Givi only lists a top case mount.   You might email David Silver Spares or Thurn and see what they suggest.   I have seen 6th gen bags adapted to both 4th and 5th gens using some creative bracket fabrication.   The same could be done with Givi.  One other possibility is SW Motech - they make a universal mount but finding one for a 3rd Gen is a longshot.

So you plan on carrying chain saws on it?   Is that work related?  Guess so from your screen name.   I can't say I've ever seen arborist show up at a job on a VFR!

It's kind of an old bike at this point, well beyond the normal "modification" period.  I doubt anyone makes new luggage fitting kits for RC36s any more, but there were plenty made, so they are always popping up on eBay (maybe not so often in the 'States, though).  OTOH, if you have the skills, fabrication is certainly an option.  The rear subframe has the M8 mounting bosses already, so all you'd need to do is make some removable brackets.

Tree,

i have a set of soft triple bags that go over the pillion. They are Cortech, red, used, perfectly functional, a little dirty, and a little faded. They've been on my '95 for about 5 years until last week when I sold it.

I think I still have the waterproof linings, never used, but I'll need to check.

If you are interested send me a message.
