HISS was not used on any US models. American Honda (Honda's US subsidiary) very often requests cheaper "no frills" versions of Honda motorcycles. This has been the case since at least 1990, when I bought my US-spec VFR750FL. That bike did not have a center stand, a remote fuel tap, a digital clock or a solo seat cowl as standard (despite all of these things being standard in the rest of the world). My guess is that HISS was too expensive and theft not too much of a problem in the USA!
