If you didn't know I bought a 2000 VFR from Colorado and had it shipped to NC.
The process took a long time. I bought 7/2/25 and it was delivered 8/14/25.
I haven't had a chance to try it out due to it raining all day. I did find a few things that the dealer never told me about. Missing the cap under the front cowling. There are 2 keys one for the ignition and the other for the gas cap. The left side cowling is missing a screw that holds the cowling nice and tight to the bike. I have bought all the parts needed to fix the easy stuff. The key thing I'm a little annoyed about. Also, u really have to work the key to get it to turn into the start position. I'm planning on replacing all the items that need a key but that seems a bit pricey at this time.
For you that have had a VFR, above the fuel tank can you just see the bolts that hold the tank on the frame? It looks like there should be something there.
This weekend when it stops raining I plan to changing the tires and take it for a spin. She is a lot bigger than the EX that for sure. I'm still excited to have her in my garage.
She is orange in color and the previous owner took all the stickers off her. Which I like the stickers, I might look at adding them back before I put the PPF on her.

Congrats dude! Looks good... Waht shipping company did you use and are you happy with it?
On the tank... its held on by 2 bolts at the very front and 2 bolts under the seat.
I used Haul Bikes. They were careful with the bike, but shipping was slow. Overall good service I'm happy with them. Just it's a test on your patience.
I saw those 2 bolts and thought that it looks like a cover went there. I'm guessing no cover for that area.
Can anyone tell me if 6th gen ignition and fuel cap will work with 5th Gen? I would like to get the bike back to one key for everything. Besides that would fix the issue with the ignition being hard to get the key to put in on position.
Fuel cap is the same part number for the 5th and 6th gen so definitely swappable. 17620-MAS-E01
The ignition switch has a different part number between the 5th and 6th gen. You can definitely fit the 5th gen lock to a 6th gen triple clamp so I know the mounting bolts are the same, I did this when I fitted a CBR600 fork in 6th gen triples to my last 5th gen. The only fiddle was that the steering locking pin didn't align with the socket in the frame and I had to shim the lock down about 3mm to make that work.
The Parts Classification Code MAS means the fuel cap assembly was originally used on the CBR900RRV-X (1997-99), so probably also several other bikes from that era--in addition to the VFR.
Which key fits the seat lock? Originally, all three locks would have opened with the same key, so somebody's changed something for some reason.
