I rode a 99 for the first time yesterday and noticed that the idle was running at 1300 rpm. This was after it was fully warmed and the choke was off. This seems too high to me. What is the idle speed set to from the factory?
My '04 was idling just under 1500 rpm according to the tach when I bought 'er 3 weeks ago. Easily adjusted it down to ~1250. Didn't want to go below that for a couple weeks for fear of stalling it during takeoffs. Good enough for now.
BTW, the 6th gen. idle adjustment screw is in the same place as the 5th gen.

Just had my VFR Serviced, like yours mine was idling around 1250-1300 when I asked the mechanic, ( who encourages me hover around him during a Service ) he pointed to his diagnostic machine as he was balancing throttle bodies at the time the machine was showing actual Rev's were around 1100 ie normal for a VFR.
