well, I figured that some new paint, wheels, forks, brakes, tires, chain and all of the related stuff would clean it up

Read some of the posts in the suspension modification forum so that you'll know what works and what doesn't, before you embark on this somewhat radical change.

thanks for the help, for the life of me, i never see much talk about the lower triple that is used. I see that a few people say the 954 lower steering stem can be used...but not too sure..im about to just buy an sp1 lower from the factory!!

I had an SP-1 lower on mine. Now I have a CBR929/954 lower. No real difference. No notable clearance problems - just touches the lower rad hose at full lock - I wouldn't worry about unless all your riding is in parking lots doing figure 8's
