Nothing New For '09...

I heard today that orders are being taken for 09 models(VFR). Sounds like no change to me?

It's all hearsay, but I might just call my dealer on Tuesday and see if they can order or not, should be pretty obvious at that point...

It's a V5 with 180hp, push button gear selector, traction control, abs, a/c, power steering, 6-disc cd changer, XM radio, rear air bag suspension, leather seat, push-button adjustable suspension... and it's neon green. They didn't have the Pumpkin orange in stock...

I bought it used with 516 miles on it...

There is a purple one... but it has pink polka dots on the gas tank and yellow wings on the lower fairings...

Easy fix. Rattle can spray on truck bed liner from Manny Moe and Jack. :biggrin:

Hey, so did I. It's used but in great shape. The guy sold it and bought a used Geo, said he wanted something that felt more like a motorcycle.

Usually the dealers don't even put in their order for the next years model until the dealer shows around sept. Unless it's an early release model.

I'm a much more patient person than I used to be, so waiting another 2-3 weeks for the official word from Honda on any '09 VFR (new, old or non-existent) is OK with me.

As for the drag video...Next time I doubt those spectators will park their bikes so close to the track. Drag bike almost took 'em out!

Rumor has it that the 2009 VFR will also have a self-sidestand feature (think Lexus self park feature) and distronic cruise control available. :goofy:

Just as long as they Keep the FRONT SSSA and add USD Forks to the REAR all will be good in the world :P

Just talked to the local dealer. He said the dirt model show is in September, and the street model show is in October. Ordering starts in October. Got to wait another month now. :pissed:

Cycle News says Honda IS coming out with a V-5 VFR, next year. Don't know if that means 09 or 10. I sounded like it was really going to happen. I work for a Honda dealership, we have not heard of it yet. But could be big news, know there have been lots of rumors.

well it is already september and nothing firm from Honda. It would seem chances of something this fall are slipping away....

Ya know....it really wouldn't bother me if they didn't change the VFR. Still, there isn't another bike as versitile or with as many attributes in spite of the VFR's negatives.

When I want to, I can ride my VFR's very damn fast in the turns, and when that isn't enough, I own a faster bike.

Not too hard to keep a secret when all that is new are Bold New Graphics. When there are no test mules lapping tracks in testing, and no people working on new products, there isn't much info to leak, or many people to leak it. :rolleyes:

What about the naked street fighter model? I think it's only being released in Europe.

I for one could care less about what is coming out next year. If my fortunes keep up like they have been, I'll have to wait for another...say...23 years before the '09s are in my price range. I've got 5 more generations of bikes to enjoy before deprecation makes this bike affordable to me. :laugh:

:+1: I am in the same boat man. It is interesting to see what is coming out and is fun to read about in the cycle rags, but I will have to make due with my bike for another 5 years. Like you, I also calculate how many years it would be before I could afford a currently released bike.

There is even a slight chance I may have to sell my VFR and leave this great family. Insurance, tires, maintenance, and 200+ mile weekend joyrides really offset the benefits of gas savings on my commute. I would probably get a second job before I had to do that though! :biggrin:

My buddy (a dealer) says only the Honda dirt stuff TBA this week...not street stuff yet. He says he is hearing they will wait til 1 OCT for Street release info.......he is not happy right now w/ mother Honda. I saw the new Honda BIG RED today which just arrived. It is the igloo cooler UTV! Big plastic form doors & body work. Kinda neat, its big & I'd love to get one in the woods.

My two cents, I don't care if they come out with a new one. I've got 24,000 on my bike. That means it has at least 76,000 to go! It would be nice to see something other than BNG (bold new graphics), giving the VFR a little attention but, again, I'm keeping mine for a long, long time because I know it's good for it.

2009 Honda New Releases -
No New VFR Yet... :( I work at a Honda Dealership and this year Honda is not offering a Dealer Convention to release the New models. They are doing what they refer to as an "Un-Convention". Today (Sept 5) They released the Dirt Unconvention which consisted of (2) Redesigned models. A New CRF450R with EFI and a New TRX420 Rancher Quad with IRS and Power Steering. That's it for the September Un-Convention New Models. Supposedly the Street Un-Convention will be in October and hopefully a New VFR is in the works. We'll have to wait and see...

Why would Honda be so secretive about the release of a new bike? Wouldn't the PR/advertising dept. want to make everyone start salivating by at least releasing some notes, sketches, or pre-production photos? I don't get it. Did they do this with the release of the new 1000RR last year too?

if they release the new models too soon, then less people would buy the current models. People would "wait out" just to get the newest latest. There were companies who went out of business because people did not buy they current product after they released the future product specification.

I'd have to agree with you there. Earlier today when I was out riding, I pulled up next to a guy on an older Honda, I was taking the '09 out for a quick jaunt. He stared and stared, then asked me, WHAT IS THAT? I replied "the '09 VFR". He got all bent out of shape. Seems he was on his way down to the dealer to buy a RWB that was left over from last year. "What's the point now?" he asked, as I pulled away on my NEON GREEN V5 195hp 7th gen w/cruise control, ABS, A/C, 4-speaker BOSE, waterproof saddlebags, and a 'convertible windshield'... Guess I better park it for the next month...

I see! I guess that usually only works with impulse buyers though, right? If could wait a few months just to see what's coming out, I would. If I didn't like the new model, I could get the old one maybe at a discount.
