I tend to think it's the real deal. I cannot think of a reason for a dealer to put up information on their site about the new bike, let alone call existing customers. In conversation I've mentioned to the sales guy to call me when he got info about it.
The upcoming editions of Cycle World and Motorcyclist should have something in the very near future.
I'm itching to see some stats on the bike. (WEIGHT, HP, Torque, Colors)

Somebody needs to call and see if they really are taking deposits for a 1000 cc V5 VFR for 2009.
Would a reputable dealership put their a$$es on the line by taking deposits on an imaginary machine. No doubt that stranger things have happened but you've got to admit that it is curious.

You'll need to talk to the wife (that's the Cass part of this pair) first. She's the one that's had to endure/tolerate the most during this project. Besides, it's still a work-in-progress with Motad headers, Sato rearsets and numerous one-off machined parts on the way. Guaranteed to blow the doors off any new V5 VFR (especially if you count the electrical problems the new bike will have for the first 4-5 years).
I'll let you ride my VFR at next years Colorado Meet if you buy me a beer (or two). Then you can form a better opinion on how much of a POS it is. :goofy:
So all it took was a phone call... They HAVE NOT SEEN the unit yet. Chris, at motions said it is indeed coming, and that the picture was provided by Honda. I pressed him on it, mentioning that MCN ran the same picture a couple months back and that it is clearly an "artists" impression of what is supposedly coming. He quickly backtracked and said that sometimes the pictures they get from Honda are artists renditions and not actual photos. :unsure: I also told him that MCN is notorious for distorting the truth. He called them liars. :warranty:
Nice enough guy, and I believe he may have been told the "new" VFR is coming, however he backed down quite a bit, and said they would know for sure in a couple of weeks, when Honda has apparently promised to have a unit at the rollout show.
IMO... if I buy a VFR that looks like that, then I am going to get the 1000RR.

Thats actually for the underseat heater.. It also comes with custom ported cold weather gear that attaches to the up pipe.. A big plus for those canucks suffering from PMS in febuary

looking at the promotion part of the site, looks like one bike is just a modified CBR1000RR. The other one looks more like a 6th gen.
One is called a VFR1000R (RC211V), and the other is the VFR1000GT. Only thing is I don't get why have two VFR's. To me, that was the whole point, one VFR to rule them all.

IF and when a new VFR is intro'd, I'll be checking with my local dealer every week to see when they get one. That bike would be the one thing that would definitely get me to attend the annual bike show (Cycle World Int'l shows) in Cleveland next January.
There could be a new VFR, but I won't believe it until I see something in print on Honda's official website. And even then I'll be sticking with mine for awhile. ;)
BTW, +1 on cassandtim's comment about electrical issues on any brand new VFR. Electrics are Honda's Achilles' heal!

wont be in show rooms until around april. just like the 08 CBR1000 was. so they can clear out remaining 08 VFR's
honda postponed 08 CBR1000RR shipments 3 times, first it was gonna ship in nov then feb then march, and then they finally released them in the first week of april.
I've been told the same speel by my local dealer, I told him i'll believe when I see it and he was adament he was correct.

The dealer I've got to know here (Sydney, Oz) is pretty candid and he says that basically Honda doesn't tell them (dealers in general) diddly squat until the bikes are virtually rolling down the production line. According to him Honda is anal about unsold stock and doesn't want to lose sales with people holding off for the new stuff.
Look how they've dragged out the death of the CBR1100XX...
Having said that, I personally believe that the mooted V5 VFR is (will be) a reality. One of the reasons I think this - look at the dross Honda has been bringing out for the last few years, CBR600/1000RR aside. Their engineering people have been tied up with something special...

"Shaft Final Drive"??? "A VFR specific feature"??? Those statements totally discredits the article. I say BS!! Why don't Honda just kill off the VFR. After all this runaround from the bike press and maybe some rumor mongering from Honda itself, I don't think they're getting any closer to getting serious about a new 7th gen anyway and a lot of us are just getting sick of it all!
I'll believe it when I see it at the motorcycle show with a MSRP tag on it.
Then I'll wait a year or so for a lightly used one to go on sale.
Unless it's overpriced at $18 or $20k new, in which case, fudge it. :lurk:
