I purchased Conti Road Attacks in June 2007 and have put over 8,000mi on them. I replaced terribly worn Dunlop D208's. The Conti's were immediately confidence inspiring with excellent grip cold, wet and dry. Most of the mileage put on these tires is from commuting 23 miles (one way) on typical New England 30-45 mph two lane roads and about 5 miles of highway. Luckily, I get to keep moving throughout my commute, covering the distance in 30-35 minutes. Also, I took several 200-300 mile day trips during summer months. Based on the wear factor and the excellent performance of the tire, I have no reason to switch brands but a local dealer mentioned that other riders have extremely mixed results on wear, reporting anywhere from 3-6k on a rear. Will I purchase another set of Cont's? Certainly, it is hard to ignore the enthusiasm surrounding the Pilot Road 2's even if they cost more and many people have been happy with a variety of ST tires (Roadsmarts). My experience with the Conti's was great, but I will probably try the PR 2's for no other reason than to do a comparison. For any commuter types needing a reliable tire and wishing to save a few bucks, these tires will not disappoint.
I get nowhere near that kind of mileage with dunlops or michelins...though a fair amount of my riding is double and I'm a bit of a fat a$$ myself. What weight range are you guys in?

If someone can get 4k out of conti or met, perelii or what ever, expect over 5k out of the Road 2 rear
In this case its with a conti, if he gets 8 out of a conti, 10 or 11 is a safe bet with a Road 2 rear
I'd put a road 2 rear up against anything on the market with regards to life , it even lasts longer than than tires made of stone that offer little performance.
The amount of life it gives and amount of performance is quite a feat.
I really like the Conti RA. Mine show more wear than that on 4000 miles. But, I also have been known to downshift hard on spirited rides. I can attest to their great handling too. All around great tire.
My Conti's have around 7300 miles. Two 2000 mile trips with loaded saddlebags really did them in. Before the trips the tires were wearing really good, hardly any wear in the middle, the extra wieght with the bags really changed that though. The front is still in great condition, I will most likely get the Conti's again. You have to stick with a good thing. :fing02:

I purchased the Conti RA in September and now I have a wobble at @ 45-50mph. Had the dealer take a look and they couldn�t find the cause. They stated that it might be a bad set of tires. Anyone else with the Conti RA�s experience this?

I've had that problem on deceleration at around 40ish but only when I'm riding with my tail and saddlebags. I have not noticed it without the weight.
I ran through a set of Conti RA's last summer. 4200 miles till slick. They looked good and behaved well till the last 300 miles.
Working on a set of Avons now.
Holy vulcanized rubber Batman! If you can get 8000 miles out of those (and they still look like they have lots of life), a set of PR2s may be the last tires you'll ever need to buy! :laugh:
From what I've read around the 'net, the Main factors in (rapid) tire wear are speed and load. I could have said 'heat' instead of speed, because invariably high speed operation causes significantly higher tire temperatures. Of course you can throw in hard acceleration as well... :wheel: :rolleyes:
So it kinda makes sense, if you are driving real easy as you indicated for most of the 8000 miles, your tires will last well...forever...kinda ;p .
I think most of us torture our tires, which would explain the 4000 miles most of us get on so-called 'long life' rubber.
More stats: I weigh 225lbs (add gear to that). Run 42 psi rear, 36 psi front (Honda factory recommended pressure) and check regularly.
I agree with DDO-VFR, based on my commuting use, I don't run the tires very hot. When I get to play, it's not for very long. I've also read that suspension set-up affects tire wear, although after I set sag I haven't done much else. Really just posted up the pics so that people have a reference.
I really liked the Conti's, they were very confidence inspiring at lean angles and the round profile was extremely predictable.
I'm glad you like the Conti's and are happy with the mileage.
But mileage is like opinions, there all different and everyone's got a different idea about it. :blush:
We've had members get over 12,000 miles from stock tires while others only get 2500 miles from the same tire so "your mileage may very" has HUGE meaning when talking about tire mileage. :cool:
IMO basing mileage on someone else s results has little relevance unless you ride the same type roads, conditions, style and pace(SPEED) WHICH is very hard to find, but when you do find someone with similar results you can usually take it to the bank. It only took me around 20,000 miles of riding with the same guy to figure that out, what he gets, I'll get no matter the tire make. :fing02:
Enjoy the Conti's and try some Road 2's some day if you every get a chance. :biggrin:

I have run several conti tires and have never got over 4K,not a bad tire it just the Michelin has a bit more grip,and more consistent.I'm a retired from conti so buy as many you want it help me out. :rolleyes:

although i love my conti road attacks i guess i care more about grip and how they feel rather than how many miles I get out of them.I consider my motorcycle a toy; tires are just one of the expensive parts of it.Now I do hate the bridgestone tires are they cup horribly for me.Me being a bigger feller I run my front tire with little more air and it helps the contis out a lot with wear and ride feel.
These are the tires that the Katana wears. I have only put about 5k miles on them and upon pre-ride inspection this morning, I found that the tire is cracking and separating in the deeper portions of the tread, down in between the long swoops. Checked the manufacture date and it was made this last year. There doesn't seem to be any dry rot or any of the other typical signs that you would see on an older tire that is loosing it's oils. The tire has never blued or been abused. Tire pressure has always been kept at 38lbs in the rear. Considering that the tire is so new, I think I will contact continental and see just what the heck is going on. In the mean time, you guys might want to check yours to make sure that they are good.
just had my rd attacks replaced yesterday. i managed just under 5k miles on rear completely worn no center tread left (never thought to take a pic) replaced 2 rears to one front. next time i would go with a sport attack on front and stay with rd on rear 10k on front was really pushing it. surprisingly i got a better deal on coras III this time around cant wait for some good weather so i can take em for a rip and compare

its all about how much u twist your wrist this what my almost new rear rd attack looked like after a day on the track rubber just peels off. a sport attack would of lost even more rubber.

I just put these on my girlfriend's Katana. Only 200 miles so far, but I'll keep an eye on that.
Before my 4th gen I had a 07 Yammie R6s that I ran these tires on and I swear by them. I had 3k on them and they still were in great shape after some hard riding. I put these on my fourth gen since I got a really good deal on it. I love the way the bike feels but don't have very many miles on them because I had to put the bike away for winter. I miss being stationed at Ft. Campbell I practically rode year round and there was an abundance of curvy roads. I come back to northern IL where I am from and the riding season is too short!
I had my buddy come over and slip on a pair of those conti roads, they were awfully heavy and they had a serious sidewall. It took much more effort to put those on than my Pilot Road 2's. He got about 5k before squaring them off so much he needed a new rear, he mostly commutes interstate and hes got a lead wrist.

My tires looked very similiar after my track day on them. No loss of grip, or confidence. Dutchy can attest to their appearance as well. They looked quite similiar to these. I am quite pleased with them. We'll see how they are after this coming years track events!!!
I agree mileage is a subjective item. I ride very fast paced on the highway and I know for a fact that constant speed will eat the tire life away. So it just depends. I am very happy with my Storm ST's. Got over 5k on them and looking good. I will buy them again and again....it's what works for me and my style of riding (remind you I live in FL)!
