Clear 6th Gen Signals Post

I was browsing to find the post that had the parts list of whats needed to make the clear front signal lense ( the bulb adaptor ) fit in the older model 6th gens. Couldn't find the post anywhere. I could figure it out of it tried but saves me the trouble of ordering in stuff I don't need, or missing something. Thanks

The turn signals come in two parts: the lens and the base. You'll need to swap the bases they come with with the ones you already have. That's it.

Front turn signals aren't expensive ($70 at the dealership.) The problem is finding a rear tail light assembly w/ clear turn signals. They aren't easy to come by and costs $220 at the dealership. I got lucky in that I found someone on VFRWorld that sold me his for $100 shipped. If you get it, you're gonna run into an issue with the bulb sockets not fitting. However, there's a way around it. When you get to that point, let me know, and I'll tell you what to do. It's not difficult.

So long as we're on the subject of lights, something else you may wanna do is swap headlight bulbs. The kind I've got are Sylvania Cool Blues. They give off that slightly bluish light you see on high-end cars like Lexus and Mercedes. This mod, along with clear turn signal lenses, give the VFR a more modern look.

Do the cool blues throw more light or are they just a different color? Oh, BTW, when were you in Woodstock, NY? Looks like fall since if it was spring with no leaves yet there would be some snow somewhere. :goofy:

The Cool Blues give off slightly more light, but not that much more. When my bike is parked next to a VFR with stock bulbs, there's a huge difference in the way they look. The stock bulbs look almost yellow and the light they emit looks dated.

I was up in the Catskills around April of this year. I had Seb run my rear brake lines through the swing arm. He did a great job :fing02: and the riding up there was awesome.

P.S. Another thing I did was get single filament bulbs for the front. As a result, the turn signals no longer double as running lights (which is what I wanted.)

If you want to keep original wiring/plug, you need to order the '06 and up unit.
The lenses easily interchange and you're done. You use the older bases.

As for the bulbs, You'll need Amber 7443s if you want to keep running light/signal function. Others may chime in as to where, other than Honda, you may find them.
If you choose led, the same number applies, but you have more choices......

Are you using leds on the rear as well?
Mixing with incandescent bulbs doesn't help.
Along with either resistors or digital flash relay and I've yet to replace one in over two years.

I was using LED's in both my front and rear turn signals. I was using the "switch backs" up front. I had not changed the flash relay, so they did flash faster than normal. I got my bulbs from the same place you did. The seller stated that I must be having a spike in voltage. Based on my voltage meter I've seen no voltage issues.

I like the Amber lense better, although I know it looks "dated". I also would never run without running lights....something about the yellow running lights really makes you noticable it seems....since putting the GSXR mirrors on I seem to have less ppl turning in front of me....of course it only takes one!

what is the make of this aftermarket tail light? Anyone know how much and where to get one ?

Send the guy an email for pricing. I haven't seen it first hand but based on others that bought one they commented that part of the subframe had to be modified a bit. Does look good with lazers though.
