Who makes a CHEAP, non-carbon, slip on exhaust for a 5th gen. ?

Scorpion makes a good one for a good price. I scored a used ART (England) for $150!! Just shop around bro. Most pipes are in a similar price bracket. FWIW Scorpion has a lifetime warranty.

Bought a used scorp off of ebay. Have no clue to what it was meant for but I made it fit.
this may be the route i will go soon.

I've got one on mine and am really pleased.
Nice throaty sound but not too loud and weights 4.5 lbs versus 11 lbs for the stock pipe.

If you scroll down, Parts 411 has a Jardine RT-1 oval slipon can for $232.16
BUT, it's aluminum, and I personally prefer Stainless or Ti over Al for an exhaust can.
Al is too soft and scratches too easily, IMO. But it IS cheaper, that's true.
Keep looking down, and the same vendor has the same can in Titanium for $309.76
More info, there's an EBAY reseller that has Delkevic products, they recently sold a Ti can for your bike, $200.
Maybe ask them if they have/can get any more?

Delkevic lists them on their website for �130 for Ti, or �99 for stainless. Shipping might be high though to buy direct from the UK.

No reason to spend more than $200 for an aftermarket muffler. I was the guy that sold that ART muffler to Jon28 - nice pipe, I just preferred my Staintune.
If you can find the connector pipe, almost anything will fit as most aftermarket pipes use a similar sized inlet. But it will hard to find anything clean for under $100 so I would just buy something complete unless you want to be able to switch between hi and lo mount connectors for cheap.
Keep in mind that most aftermarket mufflers get louder as they age - this will either be OK or annoying (veefer800Canuck had a hi-mount Micron Carbon Oval that sounded great !) You can repack yourself with the same material companies like Staintune and Scorpion use, or just buy one of theirs in the first place. I am also a big fan of being able to adjust the sound level of the pipe vis-a-vis different tailpipe inserts, but it sounds like they cost more than you want to spend in the first place.
I have tried new and used V&H, TwoBrothers, ART, D&D, WileyCo and Staintune exhausts on my 5th gen.
You could always buy a Muzzy can from their clearance section for $99 if you can find an aftermarket midpipe for a 5th gen.
Then, adapt as required.

They have a Titanium can for a Honda CRF450 for $99.
As long as it has a 2" I.D. inlet, you're in business.
IDK about the CRF can, they do have an aluminum universal can listed for $99 that's meant for a CBR1100. As listed though, it's a universal can and will work with all bikes. Order the can and a midpipe!

I've been following this thread, and am considering a slip-on for my 4th gen.. A slip-on sounds great for someone wanting non-stock sound on a budget, but what to do about a midpipe? I don't want to salvage the stock tailpipe just for the midpipe section. I like the high-mount pipes like Two Bros and Staintunes, but don't want to put down the $$$. Looking at the midpipe, the 4th gen has a flared end where it clamps to the collector. Given that there are muffler shops who have benders and flaring tools, is this something that can possibly be fabricated by a shop with reasonable experience? Better yet, are there midpipes that are available that can be ordered for the 4th or 3rd gens.?
BTW: not trying to be :offtopic:, but the 3rd and 4th gens have a somewhat similar exhaust setup as the 5th gens.
Any halfway decent muffler shop could make you a midpipe. Get them to make it from stainless tubing, then polish or brush it.
Thurn sells midpipes for the 3rd and 4th gens.
As far as a cheap slip-on alternative for 5th gens... I too would say the Delkevic is the most bang for the buck in a single package, I started seeing them on e-bay bout 2 weeks to a month ago...
I have a Vance & Hines SS2R on my 5th gen and it sounds wicked.It's about the same noise as stock till you hit about 5K and wack the gas.Then she barks and sounds just awesome.I like it alot because I can come home late and my neibors,wife or kids can't hear me come up the driveway until I come into the garage.I bought that used with everything in super nice condition off of or comp VFR WORLD delivered to me for 125.00.If you sit tight you should be able to find one in nice shape for around
100-150 bucks. Stay far away from D&D unless you like to piss your neibors off and have ear damage sooner then most.

Well, I just ordered one of these based on your recommendation and a youtube sound clip (bike was blue, was it yours?)
Hopefully it will work on my bike okay without tuning considering I have an '01 with a cat. Dale (the maker at Holeshot) says that I might need to block off the pair valve from the airbox to prevent backfiring. Did you do that?
I'll report back to let everyone know how it went on an '01 or to resell it to someone with catless 5th gen.

I have an Erion can on my 5th Gen and it backfires some but it's not annoying to me. I kind of like it, lol. It will only backfire on a down-hill section of road with the throttle closed. I like the Erion can a lot but it's not the nicest looking muffler. It has a nice bark to it but not so loud that it will anger the neighbors etc. I had thought about getting a PCIII and tuning it but I can't justify spending $270 for it and then paying to get it set up properly on a dyno.

I have no clue how to do that and I think you need to purchase some kind of plates to block them off. The bike runs fine with no mods other than the Erion slip on. A little popping on deceleration down hill I can happily live with. :)
I bought a Dekcavic Titanium Stubby from the Ebay seller mentioned above. I love the sound and it looks great, but they only supply one clamp. I complained and they sent me the wrong size on the second clamp so I'm waiting for a repky from them. They also have a stainless stubby for $129 plus shipping. They both come with a neat removable sound dampener which I removed. Still like the look and sound and you can't really beat the price.
