Fuel Tank Question.

Lowsided yesterday. The tank caught a tree, not repairable. There ain't no possibility to by outside Israel, our customs make some problems with it, so I found one here, but it's from 6th gen, and has no pump and fuel meter on it. Does anyone know if 5th gen pump and meter can be installed on it? OEM part numbers are different, I know. Thanks!

Howdy; Sorry that you damaged your tank,anyway I have both a 5th and a 6th gen tank, the 6th gen tank can be made to fit on a fifth gen. but you are going to need some washers and other standard parts
           to make it fit. If I remember correctly the 6th gen tank will sit a little higher than the 5th. I never tried to fit the 5th gen internals into the 6th gen tank,however I think you have a pretty good chance
             that it will work. good luck. eddie

Everything is different but will bolt up, this doesn't mean that the fuel pump will pick up all the fuel or that the fuel gauge will read anywhere close to accurate but as long as your aware of that should work OK.
The 5th gen is a 5.3 gal tank and the 6th gen is a 5.8 gal tank. :fing02:

Thanks for that. Maybe, some time, when I'll find repairable 5th gen tank, I'll reinstall everything.. For now  I need my bike back as soon as possible.. I'll let you guys know how everything works with the 6th gen tank!

Tested the tank. The gauge works like there was no change. No leaks too. It's good!

This is good news, Thanks I was wondering the same.

I have a nice crease in my tank and another with a slight dent barely noticable..  This opens up the posssibilities to use the 5th gen pump and level guage..

I would like pictures too, especially how the 5th gen seat fits around the rear of the 6th gen tank.

And also any other details you can provide as to how you made it fit, good/bad, and all that stuff.


I just might do this myself as my tank has a dent in it, and if I can find a 6th gen on EBAY reasonably priced, then I might get it for the increased fuel range.

The 6th Gen tank at 5.8 gallons and the 5th Gen at 5.3 gallons? If I ever need a new tank, the 6th Gen seems to be the way to go. An extra half gallon of fuel would be nice to have! Posted Image

As shown above the internals will swap between the two gens.  The lower mount is the big difference.  On fitting a 6th gen on a 5th gen you'll need to drill two new holes for the bolts to mount through.  Vice versa for 5th onto a 6th.

The air filter for 5th and 6th gens are 100% interchangeable, so I assume the airboxes are identical.

The pump picks up only 20 liters..
