<Motorcycle display>
The motorcycle display will feature products filled with creativity and dreams that create new value that challenges the unique potential of motorcycles. Making its world premiere, the CB1100 explores the potential of the air-cooled, 4-cylinder engine while building upon the aesthetic appeal and riding taste of the generations of CBs. The VFR1200F sport touring bike, which will make its Japan premiere, emphasizes advanced technology and styling while offering an enjoyable riding experience. A VFR1200F equipped with the world's first Dual Clutch Transmission for large-displacement sport bikes will also be on display. Advanced models that address environmental concerns include the PCX, an idle stop function-equipped global scooter that delivers outstanding fuel economy, and the EVE-neo, which achieves clean and tough performance that only an electric-powered scooter can provide.

"Planned Production" meaning not necessarily slated for 2010 model year.

"Dual Clutch" is listed under World production, while the regular model (manual clutch) is listed as Japan only. Chicken pluckers.

Will be interesting to see quality pictures of the bike. My dealer was telling me all sorts of stuff this weekend about the bike being 20k, etc. I find that hard to believe.
I only wish I had an RWB...

The CR-Z looked appetizing.

ONLY 20K? Dollars? I'm having a hard time fathoming any motorcycle being Only $20,000...

And that CB: trailing arms and standard forks? I suppose the engine is a larger displacement version of the I4 they came out with back in 1969...

Wow, that is really retro, right down to the Comstar look wheels. Do they have a warehouse full of leftover '79's they're trying to unload?

I was checking out Honda UK's site last night. There are a few CBs available across the pond that we don't get, including a couple 1300cc standards, one naked and one w/bikini fairing - among other bikes we don't get, too.

Those 1300cc bikes look like they're designed to compete with the Kawi ZRX, aka Eddie Lawson replica. Cool looking big standards, but I bet they wouldn't sell well in the US where everyone wants a cruiser, supersport or touring bike.

I skipped the CW motorcycle shows in Cleveland the last couple years, but if the new VFR1200 is at the show this winter I will be there to check it out. :)

Even I could bear Cleveland if the new bike was there

I sure hope that he's wrong about 20K. That would be uncool of H to string us along for so many years just to finally release something that no one (speaking of myself here  ) can afford

I've been trying to find a CB750/900F cheap enough so I can build one of those... no luck yet though.

You build it like that and you may have to sell it to me when you are finished! (black wheels though, please)

I already know what parts to use... if you come across a good CB750/900F, send it over, and I'll do it up for you!

Yes it does!!!
I have pics of the initial CR-Z concept up in my office as I'm a die-hard CRX-Si fan, see my in garage list.
This next step closer to a real production model is looking just fantastic too me.
I hope the powerplant does not suck like the new Insight though...

The new VFR in the pix says VFR1200ST on the side. I'm waiting to see the non-ST version, 'cause tho the ST version looks pretty good to me, I'm hoping the regular bike is sportier.

You need to read the link posted with that pic. First of all, it's from MCN who's famous for posting more but wrong pics of the new VFR than any other source I know of. Secondly, they say that model (ST) along with a Varadero style aren't coming out yet. FWIW.

That pic looks like a spruced up DN-01, 5-lug rear wheel and all. Maybe that is the next gen DN-01RR?

"Planned Production" meaning not necessarily slated for 2010 model year.

"Dual Clutch" is listed under World production, while the regular model (manual clutch) is listed as Japan only. Chicken pluckers.

This leans towards an actual 2010 US release:

Honda Motor Co., Ltd., on Sep 8 2009, said:

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced that it has developed the Dual Clutch Transmission*1, the world's first*2 fully automatic motorcycle dual clutch transmission for large-displacement sport bikes. The new transmission provides riders sporty riding enjoyment with easy operation, while its superior transmission efficiency delivers fuel economy equal to or better than a conventional manual transmission. A new VFR large-displacement sport bike equipped with the new transmission will be released in Europe and North America in 2010, with sales to commence in Japan at a later date.

This world's first motorcycle dual clutch transmission features a light, compact design that allows it to be combined with existing engines without substantial layout modification. Further, the new transmission delivers the precise acceleration control riders require thanks to electronic control technology that helps ensure smooth, seamless gear changes. In order to respond to rider demands in a broad range of situations, the transmission is equipped with three operating modes, two full-auto modes (D-mode for regular operation and S-mode for sporty riding); and a 6-speed manual mode, which delivers the same shift feel as a manual transmission. Honda intends to gradually expand the deployment of the new transmission to more and more of its large-displacement motorcycles, particularly sports models destined for use in developed countries.

Honda will continue to deliver motorcycles that match the needs of society and users' lifestyles, spreading the joy of riding and mobility.

So by next spring we may actually have a new VFR on showrooms priced just below a GL1800 and nearly double the price of a 2009 VFR.

UGHH what is that ... the VFR needs a bigger engine, but not 1200cc big.

It means that the bike is brand new to the Japanese market (and by extension, to the world market). The black stars indicate bikes that are already available in Japan but which are now being released to sell outside the local market (so, world premiere). It's all fairly meaningless...

That's from the spy pics that Left Lane ran back in June or July - it's definitely the new VFR.

The white bike pictured in this topic is the touring version - hence VFR1200ST.

I find it interesting that Honda are looking to use VFR1200F as the name of the new sport/tour version - because nearly every time they've had an 'F' version of a V4 they have also had an 'R' version

(they did this with the VTRs too - VTR1000F (SuperHawk) and VTR1000 SP-1 (RC51).

Ill wager $100 that it will be in the 14-15k range

I'll second that bet.
The sport tourer will be in the range of the ST1300 - low $20,000s.
The sport VFR bike will be in the $12,000-$15,000 CDN range - same as the current VFR - likely cheaper in the states 8,000-11,000.
I like the looks of both of these. Maybe in another 2 years when mine has 100,000 miles on it and my current one is paid for ;)

Ok, I'll bite. I'm not saying that this is the new VFR. I am also not disputing the fact that it could be a photochop, but I am saying that the bike in that picture is ugly, fat, and of little use to me. It kind of reminds me of that old Oldsmobile commercial only in reverse, " This IS your grandfather's VFR. Just saying.....

ARRRGGGGHHHH!

Somebody stop the madness. :(

Didn't YOU start this thread? :)

I've had enough of the rumours, speculation, and bench racer impressions of a bike we've not yet had a close look at. I'll be calling my BIG Honda dealer tomorrow to reserve a test ride for when they get the new bike in. I will ride it - and I will then make judgments.

Not sure I'll get Skuuter type of treatment - but I've help them sell a dozen or so Honda cars to friends and family - so I hope that gets me some privilege.

Just look at the latest ST1300 photos or Goldwing photos.

Now I know why I like the VFR1200ST fake bike pictures over the ST1300, no wings. They always looked out of place on the 1300.

hehe, looks good up there in my avatar.
#34
Those Wings on the ST1300 have saved tens of thousands of dollars for the ST community. Tipover wings are very useful. The ST actually feels heavier at rest than a Goldwing and when it goes timber it ain't funny.
