Have Micron Cf High Mount Can, Want Different Can, Options?

So, I have a Micron CF high mount can and I like the sound (though it's loud, runs rich and backfires a lot, I think I need a PCIII...), but I'm not a fan of the CF look on the bike, it just doesn't work for me.  Would another Micron can or even another brand of slip-on just go right on to the high mount pipe I already have?  So I can avoid buying a whole system and open up my options?

Sorry if the question is a little n00bish, I'm new to the whole motorcycle exhaust thing.

This is what I have now:

I think another Micron oval can should bolt right up, it's a 2" inlet if I remember correctly, and most use the 2". If you go with another brand, maybe with Micron's metal cans, you might need to bend that hold down strap.

I never did like the Micron high mount CF sound, the low mount Aluminum sounded better but uses a 2.5" inlet. The Erion was a little muted, the Wolf underseat too loud. I like the Two Bros CF high mount I have now.

Yes, I'm an exhaust ho and had more exhausts than David Letterman had girlfriends.

Haha, yeah I know the feeling, that's how I was with my cars.

I was just wondering because "universal" Micron (and other brands) cans are a dime a dozen on eBay while a VFR specific setup would be more like $500, and I'm cheap LOL

I doubt it's running rich, the bikes are set fairly lean from the factory for EPA emission testing regs.

Putting a pipe on usually makes the bike even leaner.

What you are probably experiencing is lean deceleration popping, yes?

Without spending big cash on a Power Commander, you could try a Turbo City fuel pressure regulator.

http://www.turbocity...652561a935fb26d

It raises your fuel pressure from 35 to 42 PSI and you get rid of the lean condition.

Not as sophisticated as a Power Commander, but easier to set up (straight up install and forget) so there's no fiddling with maps. You can set up a PC to run right throughout the rev range, but it requires a dyno and an experienced operator, plus TIME.

I've got the fuel regulator on mine and it runs great. Maybe a tad rich, but my fuel mileage hasn't suffered, and last time I raced a CBR600RR (2007 model), I was really, really close to him from 1st through 6th. Didn't beat him, he edged me by a bike length, but he didn't disappear either.

Hmmm, I'll look in to the fuel regulator.  As far as rich, I say that because when it's running it smells rich really bad, especially when cold (which I suppose is to be expected) but almost always it smells like it's on the rich side.

They have an off the shelf map for the PCIII for a Micron can and K&N filter which I also have.  Is there any issues with running an off-the-shelf tune like there are on cars?

If it smells rich check your engine temperature for a partially stuck thermostat .It is an important sensor for the ecm .

What would I look for?

Continuous engine temps well below 82'C, even during/after a long highway ride at speed.

And a long warmup period upon initial cold startup.

Also warm rads when the engine is well below 82'C during initial warmup.

Could your can need repacking with fiberglass?  I don't have an aftermarket can but I've always heard that the packing breaks down and/or becomes saturated with exhaust over time and should be replaced.  Perhaps that would quiet it down for you?

Since getting my VFR, I've secretly lusted for a high mount Micron in carbon fiber.  I thought I had read that the sound is actually fairly tame as compared to some of the other cans out there.....
