2010 Vfr1200f Rhinoplasty

Less than 5 minutes with Microsoft Paint. Look what a drastic difference a focal point on the nose of the bike makes.

There are so many things I love about the 2010 VFR1200F, but I just haven't gotten used to the headlamp. The bike has so many beautiful lines and shapes and the attention to detail is incredible. It's as if they were trying to make a statement with the headlight. It is bold, but I personally don't think it matches the rest of the bike. I prefered they carried out some of their distinct lines and gave it more shape.

It will be interesting to here what people think.

What if?

I'm getting used to the snub nosed look, the CBR 1000 broke that ground. I don't know if the piece you added under the light makes a big difference, and making the silver thing red makes it a little bitter swoopier, I guess. I like the erasure you did to the license plate holder. Now imagine this bike with a nice pipe and some BMG. It looks clean and new, takes some getting used to but the more I look at it the more I like it.

I like it this way. Can you make the body kit?

Wonder what it would look like with the fairings removed and the headlamp et cetera removed and replaced with the headlamp and gauge cluster from a standard.

The way the tank seems to swell out to the fairings, probably pretty poor, but maybe...

wow.. that's dedication to farkling! Bike isn't even fully into production yet, and you guys are looking to give the thing facelifts and fenderectomies!

That's good, but can you use Microsoft Paint to add 3 more litres to the tank and reduce the overall weight by 40kgs?

So far, everyone seems to agree the exhaust is hideous. . . I'm sure the aftermarket already realizes this. The Concours has ugly pipes too when the bags are off and I'm sure there's aftermarket pipes for it (without actually looking, it's a Kawasaki, no need to look for parts for one since I don't own one :goofy: ).

I kind of like the lines. It looks very CBR-ish to me with the fairings going straight to the ground instead of all the way back by the shifter. Am I willing to buy one. . .

Again, like most have said, I gotta see one, sit on one, bounce up and down on it while making imaginary "Vroom, vroom" noises. And convince my CFO (aka, the wifey poo) it's much safer than the one I'm riding now (thanks for that advice years ago Trace). ;p

Since we're farkling a bike that isn't even for sale yet, let's see one in YELLOW!

I bet we find out, similar to the BMW K1300R. This has a front mounted radiator so it should be a good candidate for a naked standard? If they really want to compete with the German's lineup they should bring that model out, but I'd guess they don't have the stones to do it.

Griz, I think you're right on there. Having the "tail cowl" the same color along with the seat cowl ties the f & r of the bike together. Try it while leaving the front the same & I think you've got a winner. Now who's going to fab up some seat cowls? :blush:

This I like. I'm guessing it'd have a 5th gen flavor to the headlight shape? If so, SOLD!

Oh but what you can't see my friend is that fender is a two piece quick change design. ;) With the twist of two fasteners the extension will come off and back to sporty we go. :) (at least that's what my head is imagining anyway...)

You gotta know there's gonna be trouble when your much-anticipated new bike is already being photochopped to make it look better before it even gets to the dealership.

What if?

I like it better - it makes the look more coordinated - makes the tail look like it goes with the front - instead of a sploch of panel red here, sploch of silver there, more sloch of black here and there.
I wonder what they were thinking around the engine area, industrial black cover look? yuk

I like it, too. However, I don't think Honda would offer something like that on a motorcycle that has now become a true tourer.

With all this talk about not liking the new VFR, I'll bet when it comes time for it to duke it out against the Busa, K1300S, and ZX-14 in magazine shootouts, we're all gonna be in its corner rooting for it.

Funny, i was just playing around with the below CGI, when I found this topic. Check it out, it's something Honda could really have built. VFR with Concept V4 bodywork.

One other important design detail that I really think doesn't help the bike, is the windscreen. I think it's too big, too high....looks too much like a touring one and doesn't even flow with the fairing line. If we replace it with a sportier, lower, black windscreen, the bike suddenly looks a lot better. Change the exhaust too and there you go, a much nicer bike :) , a bit closer to the concept.
