Delkevic headers

Hello peoples,

I'm looking at putting a new set of pipes on my 09 vfr800 and have been told that I'm also best to change the headers at the same time.
Now I've been told to use a set of motard's or headers off of a 98-99 vfr. So my question is will these fit my 09 model and is it what I'm looking for?

I put a set on my 04.  Here's my post on the install link. You don't have to add headers with a new set of exhaust pipes.  It will run fine.  However, if you are going to install the new exhaust and catless headers, you should also install a Power commander (III or V) to keep your fuel mixture from going to lean due to the increased air flow.  If you want to due it in stages, you can do the exhaust first then the headers and PC at a later time.

Hi and welcome to VFRD first off!   :fing02:
No you don't need or have to replace the full headers when just adding some new slip-ons and in fact unless time and money is no issue for you than I wouldn't do it.
If you choose to change the headers out also you would/should add a Power Commander(PC) (I would go with the PCV w/auto tune) in order to run a modified MAP to cover the fuel changes the full headers will require.
Just adding slip-on's don't require a PC, but if you have another $5-600 on top of the slip-ons and headers than go for it.   :laugh:

So I don't have to add headers but it's a good idea if I can afford it. How much better will the bike go with these headers and also are these any good or should I look for some motard's?

This is the first time I have seen a VFR in that particular color combination.

why would you need a power commander for replaceing your origional headers with origional replacement headers

Because, the Delkevic headers are stainless replacements for 98-99 VFR headers. 98-99 OEM headers were a larger diameter than OEM 2002+ headers, AND, they did not have a catalytic converter.

However, these earlier, freer-flowing headers are a direct bolt on to the 2002+ VFRs, making them a hop-up item for said model year owners. Higher flow + no Cat + no provision for O2 sensors = Power Commander necessity.

No oxygen sensor holes on those headers.
Motads have 02 sensor holes, but everyone eliminates them anyway.
Good price on those delkevics :blink:
One thing to look out for though, do they include the headers from the rear cylinders?
because if they dont, your existing ones will be different diameter and wont fit.
