So, I got a line on a 929 USD fork, with an RC51 front wheel. The owner claims that he had this on his 97 VFR, and I am interested in putting it on my 07. I have read numerous threads here on how to do this, but almost always it is with an RC51 front end. I know about de-linking the brakes, etc. I am just wondering if any of you out there know if this front end will work on my 07, or not, before I drop the coin.

Front fork length and triple clamp off set are the two major problems with either RC51 or 929 forks...
Not enough fork length means the lost of corner clearance...
RC51 and 929 triple clamps add 5mm of trail to the VFR which means slow and ponderous steering...
You can regain some of that by adjusting the attitude of the bike and altering the head angle. 16mm down in the front and a little over an inch up in the rear adjusted the steering angle enough to regain 5mm of the 8mm I figured I added to the trail. (Going from memory on the figures...) With the forks 16mm up, works out to within a mm or two of the 929 fork length.
I agree though, some custom triples with original offset is a much better solution. Can you make me up some magnesium one's Larry??
