I'm thinking that maybe the 35% that has seemed to put the brakes on this fine effort to give back to our CEO(HS) needs an alternet avenue to send money, as these few may not have credit cards or know how to use Paypal. What about sending a check, or cash though the mail?
If anyone has other suggestions please feel free to express them..... It would be nice if this could be taken care of so HS can ride while the summer is here.... and to show Insurance companies how fast things can be settled........ :fing02:
There have been several already that have sent checks and cash including at least one that's delivering the money in person. In case you don't know you can still use the donation widget on the home page if you are sending cash, check, or money order. Just enter the amount, hit donate, and then select offline donation for HS's address.

When on the Paypal "Send Money" screen, select the "Personal" tab instead of the "Purchase" tab. This allows you to opt to send $$ as a gift with no fees charged to either party. This is perfect for this type of transaction, but be careful if you use it to buy stuff, as the "Personal-Gift" option does NOT provide any Buyer Protection.

Not true. The sender pays no fees. The recipient gets 3% taken off.
Why not just use the money for a new 6th gen? It's still a new bike as a gift of everyone's appreciation for him running/creating this site. Or does HS really prefer the 7th gen?
I'm ASS-uming that Miguel would use any insurance settlement from his wrecked 800 to go towards the new one, but I haven't formally asked him about it.

I want to chime in here, I don't know how long it will take for the insurance settlement to come in. Its not a quick process, I have a good chunk of cash already saved for a car I was gonna put a down payment on so there are options. I also have some 5th gen aftermarket items I will be selling that I no longer need!
People do not have to use paypal as Dutchinterceptor said its all in the donation tool. I just put $300 in checks into the bank yesterday! I will have to up my tax contriubtions at work to offset it all come tax time!
I would like the 1200 personally - I mean I never wanted a VTEC to replace my 5th gen before. They are nice but I never saw a significant improvement from my 5th gen to a 6th gen to want to get a new one before now. I waited for the 7th gen to come out and the sticker price was too much so I decided to fix up my old bike - then disaster happened. But now its all well in range with all these donations! I mean who but Cinderella has it better? I don't even have to wear glass shoes! I am in no big hurry to get this thing right away, I got my xr650 to ride and I have been neglecting some back roads around here. I can wait for a good deal!
Yes I am going for the 1200 and I want it - ALLOT - but I want don't want anybody to go out on a limb to contribute to this thing if there is even a hint of hardship to do it! I don't want unemployed or under payed folks sending me money simply out of some twisted sense of guilt or misguided honor, I couldn't take it anyway - I want to make it clear there is absolutely no obligation for you to do so! I would feel mighty guilty to accept any money from a member under pressure or duress because of the economic situation.
I am thinking a month or maybe 2 it would be well to make a purchase after the insurance settlement is in the bank. Maybe sooner my car still runs good even though its a POS beat up Civic.
I was thinking I could solicit offers from various major Honda Dealers to make a good deal in exchange for some good press on the forum and recognition of the dealer for doing so (yea I would reverse my no dealers rule on this and let them have free advertising for a spell - in exchange for a good deal)
I just want to thank you all for the all the kindness you have shown me in funding this bike adventure, I will certainly make a big deal out of it when the time comes and hope have a big hoop of members there at the dealer with me as it goes down, I would like that very much to be surrounded by my friends. I dont really care if the press comes and puts in in print or TV thats not my plan, just vfrd event like we do ourselves, tmac, meet and greet stuff you know just us.
