What I meant was if I just went to STG and looked up the EXO-1000, I didn't see it for $99. But I looked again, and I was looking at the apollo dark instead of the apollo matte. They were really creative with the colors for that helmet range. "Do you want gray, or dull gray. Or perhaps white, or pearl white."

I bought the EXO 1000 a couple of months ago. I really like it and the 1/2 shield is great. I must have flipped the sunshield 50 times last Saturday as we rolled in and out of the sun. You should have taken a close look at mine or
stuck it on your noggin. At $100, it's tempting to buy another..........but when the UPS man dropped mine off in July, my SO mocked that I was " going to need more heads ". The matte finish makes for a sweet looking lid IMO.

I really like mine. I got it for just under $300 about a year ago. I couldn't wait to have it.
Love the flip down visor and the Jordan like pump up cheek pads LOL. (I'm a sucker for gadgets)
I still like my 700 better because the wind noise is less and it's lighter. But ear plugs take care of that
nicely unless in need to hear my XBi speakers. I have to make a return visit to Wera and
see what we can do about custom fitted earplugs with sound in them.

I love the fog-free shield it has, and would jump on the EXO-1000 if it wasn't the same shape...I need to find a helmet that fits a longer head with a tight budget like I always have (both the head and the budget are mostly non-negotiable)

I have a 700 (in medium) that I loved but wanted the drop down visor. Waited and waited for the new redesigned Photograde shield, but they never brought it back. I ended up buying a 1000 in a large and I am lovin the drop down sun visor. I ended up buying the darker version drop down. For $99 I am tempted to pick up another. Free shipping for orders over $150.

Has anyone successfully ordered one yet? Judging from the other listings, this one looks like a typo. (Like it should be $199...)

I've worn Shoei RF700 & RF800's in the past. Currently I have an Arai Vector which is an intermediate oval according to Arai. I think the Scorpions fit more like a round oval. I have plenty of room on the sides, but it squeezes my forehead.

1. LONG OVAL
(very long front-to-back, very narrow side-to-side). On this end of the scale, we have the new Profile model, offering additional forehead room for those who find that most helmets have pressure points in the forehead.

2. INTERMEDIATE OVAL
(a little shorter front-to-back and a little wider side-to-side than the Long Oval). This next fit package comes in our RX-7 Corsair model, which begins the shift from oblong towards round.

3. ROUND OVAL
(even a little shorter front-to-back and a little widerside-to-side). This next fit package is represented by both our Quantum-2 and our Astral-X models.

The Scorpion rep I talked to said all of the Scorpions are shaped the same except the 1000 has a little less forehead space because of the drop down visor. The sizing on the 700 is a little different, but apparently the shape is simliar, and the 400 fits the majority of people. I haven't found one that fits me yet, but he didn't have sizes big enough for my melon with him to try on. I've tried on a buddies 1000 and know it doesn't fit me correctly.

Take a look at the HJC's. Budget priced, they even a lid similar to the EXO-1000 (flip sun screen, etc.), and the shape is only slightly different (more room at the brim area IMO).

Exactly my point... having the same jacket (even if they're different colors) is enough, thankyouverymuch... For $125 delivered, though, the FS is a deal I couldn't pass up.

given that it's only the one color and we're at the end of most riding seasons, I'm thinking it's a blow out price... You can find the same lid in multiple colors and all sizes available on the CycleGear website for $150 delivered.

Not exactly budget, but you should try on the Shark helmets. The EXO-750 fits me pretty well. When I tried a shark on at the dealer, it felt a little bit long for me. And they really do weigh absolutely nothing.

Oh, I have an HJC for the track and had a Shoei Z-II for a while too. I doubt the Scorpion 1000 would fit you. Might be able to get into a 400 according to the Scorpion rep I talked to, but I doubt the 1000 would fit you comfortably.

So, Travis, does this mean you bought an EXO-1000 and it is tight just like they said it would be? Now you are going to have to get new pads (thiner) so you won't get a headache. Welcome to the 1000 club.

I feel all I need is a break in. No new pads, just need to break it in. Test fit gives no headaches, even with the visor. Let you know how the long term goes. But for a Benji,. I'm happy as hell!!!

I have less wind noise than the RF and I think that is due to the tighter neck seal on the exo. I don't know about the venting on this model, as I didn't open the vents in the 46F temps. I am digging the sun shield though! No more messing around with glasses!

For $100, I'm really satisfied!

Weight - 'seems' lighter than the rf. I haven't weighed it.
Areodynamics - only went 50 mph, but seems good, no whistling, feels light at 50 mph

Fogging was minimal compared to the rf.

Mine had no fog in 46deg.-35mph. Had the 2 front top vents, and the rear vent open. still nice and warm.

Mine should be in Tuesday. My first expensive helmet, but not expensive. LOL

Got my helmet Friday without any problems.

Like others have mentioned, it's a pretty quiet helmet.
Compared to my Corsair V, there is a lot less high-frequency sound, and it's lighter.
My face is fat enough to not need the built-in inflatable cheek pads, but it's certainly a clever idea for those with thinner faces.
The tinted inner visor is definitely a winner! No more need to pack two shields. Again, very clever.

The big question long-term is how those clever bits hold up over time.

I'll definitely use SportbikeTrackGear.com again.
I also bought a Scorpion mesh jacket for $170.
Shipping to Hawaii is always a killer, but even their shipping charges were relatively cheap; $65 for both items, versus over $100 from some of the other stores I checked.

Just got back from vaca and saw this. Went to the site to order one and they are sold out. They sold over 200 of these helmets in less than three hours! Guess I'll have to find something else to spend a C-note on.
