Yup, I dropped her. I guess I'm the first on this board to drop a VFR1200f. Broken shifter, bent clutch lever, scratched side cowl and silver cowl (part thats says vfr1200f), and a little scratch on the alternator cover and bottom of the mirror. Grand total is $530 on bikebandit! The most expensive bits are the two cowl panels at $283.00 for the red part and $117 for the silver part. Oddly the clutch lever just bent, but didn't break. I'm going to try to bend it back, but a new one is only $38 bucks. The shifter is $91 and doesn't include the rubber part (good thing I picked up the rubber part off the road). I can live with the little scratch on the bottom of the mirror and the bottom of the alternator cover, as you have to be crawling on your hands and knees to see it, but the cowls are too rashed up. I seem to drop every one of my bikes at least once. Although it's been 4 years since my last bike drop, at least I got this one out of the way on my new VFR1200f. :blush: I wonder if the GSG-Moto frame sliders would of helped or just cause more damage?
How did this happen? Well, I helped a guy this morning pull his crashed cruiser out of a ditch on side of Mulholland Highway. A few hours later, I was headed home and I saw he was still on the side of the road waiting for his tow truck. I slowed down to check on him and while I was making a slow u-turn the front end just went out on some sand in the road. I ended up riding home with a nub for a shifter. I guess the saying is true..... No good deed goes unpunished.

I dropped my second VTEC with a one week old paint job after stopping to video tape everyone on a group ride; not really a good Samaritan move like yours but I can really empathize. :sad:
I just checked ronayers.com and they have the red for $227 and the silver for $68; a significant savings just on those two parts plus servicehonda.com usually beats ronayers so check with them too. I would also think you'd pay taxes at BB. FWIW

I dropped mine closing my garage door on the bike on a downhill slope. The worst part was my leg was caught under it and nobody was around to help, full gear on and no "I've fallen and I can't get up" alarm on me either.
Flawless paint job not so flawless anymore but like they say when you get a new car, go ahead and smack a nice door ding in it yourself so when someone else does it you won't feel so bad....

I felt the same way. The shifter broke off on my boot while I was sandwiched between the bike and the road. I managed to wiggle myself from under the bike and mustered the energy to pick it up by myself. I wear ATGATT and today was no exception. I had the weight of the bike on my left sidi boot and got away with just a bruised big toe and a scuff to the leather on the left shoulder of my Kushitani suit. I forgot what it's like to own a bike with fairings.... The SV650 never cost me more than $100 a drop.

It was very cool of you to help the guy and check on him. Too bad he isn't super wealthy he would have probably bought you a new bike as I'm sure he felt bad after watching you drop yours to check on him.
