Radial brake master on stock linked system?

Has anyone stuck a radial master cylinder on the stock 5th or 6th gen linked system?
I'm not really thrilled with the stock single sided slide pin caliper brakes on my '99, and I was looking into fork swap for better suspension and some radial calipers. I've been blaming the linked system on my dislike, since I did like the feel from my old F3 track bike with similar 2 piston slide calipers, but unlinked of course.
I may have gotten hosed on some ebay forks, so I'm thinking of some cheaper and easier solutions. Like changing the internals on the stock forks, and the radial master. Already have some EBC "wave" rotors, and they are fine. No huge gains, in my opinion. Really just swapped cause my stockers were warped.

Kev,
I would just slap some F4i forks on it and go!
That's what I did on my vtec track pig along w/radial m/s and i thought it felt great! (right up till my crash!)

You would need vtec triples, f4i forks, axle & calipers then run the viffer wheel, rotors. The Only issue is that you'll have less tube sticking up above the top tree(about 10mm less) to attach the clip on's to, but I raise my forks 5-10mm anyways so if you do the same there's plenty of tube for the clip-ons. I found that I could also use a vtec front fender using 4 of the 6 mount holes.

It's all up in the air right now. I'm holding on to hope that the CBR Thou forks I bought actually show up, and I can try to fit them. If not, I'm really not keen on buying another entire front end.

A radial front master cylinder really isn't going to improve things that much over what you have, due to model of bike 99 the brake lines are 10 years old & might be starting to expand under hard braking losing pressure to the pads which rubber lines can do. Maybe changing out lines to a link brake braided line kit is your answer Hel make a kit.

Well, it doesn't fit anyway (CBR Thou). So problem solved! Not enough room on the bar with the stock throttle assembly. Maybe with a CBR style throttle and switches it will fit on the bar, but the lever hits the fairing.

Ditto. Worked well for me, and I used the stock F4i master cylinder. Much improved braking feel.

I'm 99.999999etc% sure the CBR1000RR forks will work but you have to use converitbars, 100mm longer brake lines than the standard CBR lines & the standard throttle cables may need to be a little longer (they just had enough length for the bar height I wanted on my gen6). I fitted an 05 R1 front end to my VTEC without any major problems (main problem was making custom wheel & rotor spacers as the CBR triple clamps used for closest geometry as the norm for fork swaps are wider apart than R1 triple clamps). The only difference is R1 forks are 25-30mm longer than CBR forks. As I used SP1 top triple with 10mm of forks showing due to geometry I wanted using the CBR929/954 top triple gives you another 15mm lower mount point so there is 25mm lower mount point already & my R1 forks were setup with a 40mm rider sag so if more length needed setting CBR forks with say 35mm rider sag gains another 5mm from my R1 setup. The convertibars mount under top triple clamp & you can set bar height as high as standard VFR bars with the available adjustment they have.

This thread shows some pics but sorry no close up of convertibars http://www.vfrdiscus...page__hl__zroyz
