Cool! Depending on how my new Bridgstone BT023's do on my ST1300, I may be in the market for a set of these...depending on the price of course!

I like the grip of the Pilot Powers for the viffer...

Looking forward to seeing some test results, this may be my next set of tires.

Cool, should be a Fantastic tire and a second bennifit of they coming out with a new PR-3 is that the prices on PR-2's should drop and I can stock-up on rears! :fing02:

I do :fing02:

I try to keep the chicken strip to about 3/16 to 1/4 of an inch. I hate that glossy edge.

So many tires, so little time . . . It will be interesting to see what people have to say about their riding impressions in the dry. The additional siping may give a different perception as the tread sections work around under load (presuming the same profile). In the wet I don't care what the tire feels like as long as it keeps me upright!

PR's have always confused me. Why put that extra groove at the last inch on the outside edge of the rear? Surely if you need it (raining) you won't be pushing (leaning) that hard esp when on Roads. The powers/sports don't have it, and yet they are the ones more likely to be leaning that far in the wet. I just doesn't make sense to me but what do I know!

Good idea, Im not holding my breath a road 3 outperforms a road 2, they could only screw it up , at this point.

Goodness, any tire that can do all that has to be worth investigating!

they will be putting them on all the new Crossrunners...oh that's right, we won't get them here...

....

....never mind.... :offtopic:

If it gets the same tire life as the PR2 with better dry and wet road grip, then sign me up!
#14
Dang! I haven't even worn out my first set of PR2s yet.

Thats a benefit for sure, and one Im also looking forward to, cheaper PR2:s  I was thinking it should not take long before the the PR3 would come as soon as I heard the PR2 was also made in Taiwan.
#16
Good!, maybe they might have quicken the turning ability of the PR2s which was the only thing I feel that they need to improve on the tire, at least from my personal experience with them. :fing02:

I'm on my 2nd set of PR2's from "Thailand" 8 to 10000 miles no problems....... Looks to me as the only thing different are the extra sypes.... which I'd guess would keep them a little cooler which may or may not add to better tyre wear.....

I'm wondering if they addresed the turn in too, and then do we go road2 on the front and road3 on the rear?
Or power2 on the front and road on the rear, so the turn in is so radical that I can make Krispy Kreemes all over the place? :lobby: :goofy:

Yep, the PR 2 profile is smack betweem OEM rubber and a PP so Turn-in is the same, between the two. After running PP's for the last 40,000 miles I love and was use to the quick turn-in of them so Compared to PP's the PR2's were slower.
This is why I run PP/PR2 combo, it brings back a good amount of teh quicker turn-in. :fing02:

I'll slap on a set as soon as I can find them....loved my PR2's. Heck, I could probably get by with Shinkos ;)

Do you guys really get 8-10k miles on the PR2, the most I've got out of PP rear is 2K. & 3.5K for the front. What pressure are you running and do you ride many freeway miles. My miles are 95% back roads tickling my toes

I agree.

I forsee better traction in the wet with the extra (micro)siping. But I also forsee a squirming sensation under heavy cornering loads. Smaller tread blocks will displace more easily under lateral loads. If you've pushed new knobbies on asphalt you recognize this squirming sensation.

It appears to me that the only added benefit of these tires is increased wet traction.

Those tires probably wouldn't work for me. I tend to get out on gravel and I can see hauling half the countryside around in those microsipes. As small as they are I don't forsee them ever cleaning themselves out once I get back on hard surface.

Sounds like you ride on straight 'Pilots' ...........
Then the mileage would be in the tickle range.

Pilot 2CT, Road, Road2 etc. would affect tire longevity.

That and they are sensitive to correct tire pressure, along with total loaded bike weight.

No, 2k is decent for rippen twisties on a PP rear. I avg. 2200 miles from a rear, I now run a PP front and Road 2 rear and avg 3500 miles from the set(36/42 psi). Pretty much the same grip as PP's with longer life. :fing02:

BTW the Road 2 is already a very good wet tire IMO, don't see much of a need to improve that aspect of the tire!

DAMN! I just bought a set of new PR2's--waiting to be mounted. Why do I always seem to be 2 steps behind??? LOL

Yea--thanks! I've got 2 brand new PR2's in the garage just waiting to be mounted this winter. From my research on here--they seemed to be the best tire for my kind of riding on this bike!

Bibendum looks slightly concerned about his "gripmaster-path 3s"

Back in my earlier riding days (60 / 70's) I was wearing some Conti's that had 4 rows like your pic, and liked them until one day I'm riding down a slab between Richmond and Norfolk(Va) and rode up on miles of rain groves (72 Bmw) and it was like riding on a low tyre. So thinking safety 1st I moved over to the paved shoulder and my smile came back, UNtill the red and blue light of Va's finest stopped me to say I couldn't do that, also mentioned that if I were to loosen up on my grip it wouldn't be as bad. Thx, to the Timmy's of the force.
And it was years later(late 70's)that I got into tyre sype patterns, now I won't even buy one that has "One" in line sype or even a shallow serpentine.

Beck, Ive never ran the road 2 front, but I know the rear is defintely slower than I like, but the traction and life is the reason I buy the tire. I agree with you, if they can quicken it without Fking it up, Im game.

+2 Monk. New inventions make the old version cheaper. I like that.

DITTO MONK!

I had an 82 GS650 the came with ribbed tires, and I had to traverse 3 miles of elevated rain grrove bridge , it sucked
