So what cool stuff did you get for X-mass

So what did you find under the tree with your name on it back on the 25th?

I got the normal stuff, but one little extra the wife had some how slipped pass me to find out about and pick one up was a GoPro camera :cheerleader:

One of the new full 1080HD units. It was a shock to me, as the wife is not a tech person at all. I've looked at them but never really said I wanted one.

The down side is, the bike is packed away until spring and there is no snow right now for the snowmobile. So no videos yet, but some will come shortly :fing02:

That'll give you plenty of time to learn the software......... I received some T-handle tools, compact for the bike.

We usually do not exchange gifts. I care for my elderly mother and the last year has been quite a challenge, my sister lives in another state but helps when she can. The Saturday before Christmas I received a box from Amazon containing a 320gb PS3 with a note that said "Thanks for all you do for our Mother, Merry Christmas Sis". Needless to say I made an exception and accepted that gift!!!

some assbag swiped my old ipod at the gym about a month ago.

the wifey got me one of them new little ipod touch dealy thingys....pretty cool...almost TOO small...

Beer, beer, and more beer.


Something else bike related did come in just in time for the holidays though...

Awesome gift, I want to go try it out except the garage where I'm storing my bike is in a snow covered, hilly yard. I waited too long to winterize last year and had to push it uphill in the snow, not going to risk taking it out and not being able to get her back in!

I didn't get anything bike-related, but did get a nice set of Craftsman metric ratcheting wrenches which I'll use when working on my VFR. :fing02:

But for my birthday (the day before Chrimbo), I got a book: "Kim - The Kiwi on the Konig", about Kim Newcombe, who came second in the 500 class in 1973, riding a bike powered by a square-4 outboard motor engine. Very interesting reading.

Didn't exactly get this for X-mas - got the 8 spoke from a '92 last year. Sat in a box until I got tires for it over x-mas. It had a fair number of scratches that showed the white undercoat. A touch up stick of GM Light Metallic Gray from the auto parts store seemed like a decent match. I was surprised how well the OEM '92 color matched the '08 - I was pretty happy with the way it came out. (The sunshine's misleading - it was in the low '20's this w/e when I rolled it outside for this pic).

This was not a direct gift, however just before Christmas my wife "Convinced" me that seeing the family income
was dependent on my being able to drive, that the Cruise control that I had been leaving brochures lying around the
house for the past week, would be a good idea. :o)
She didn't have to offer twice.
Ordered it the day after the boxing holiday (Wednesday) and it arrived Thursday morning,

Installed it on Sunday after New year, and spent a couple of days getting used to it.


Everything is hidden above and in front of the left radiator, with the computer hidden in the cavity beside the Battery (no ABS).


The instrument cluster is simple the three buttons shown here and a Tri-Colour LED.


It was pre-configured for the bike model, and after the checks detailed in the instructions I took it for a ride to try it out.
it seemed to work OK but was slow to take up control after engaging it.


Following the calibration procedure, fixed most of the woes, and now i can simply run up to the desired speed ,
Click "Set" and a few seconds later I can feel the slight reduction in spring tension as the control takes some of the
throttle Spring load. Speed control is pretty good at plus or minus 1 or 2 Km/H around the set speed.


planning an excursion with some of the OzVFR boys later in January so should get a chance to really see how it is

My girlfriend got me a dark wood closet system from Lowes. Then we quickly went out and bought paint for the back of the closet. We painted and built the system in place in a day.

The pain color is Sauteed Mushroom and the color of the closet unit is Truffle. Funny huh?

My wife snuck in here and got me the 2011 VFRD calendar. Very cool.

Old headers and collector have been getting progressively worse up to 58k miles. Been riding loudly for the past year and a half. It was bad enough that when started in December, I got visible puffs condensation out of the tail pipe and the collector in unison. New stainless Delkevic system ordered and delivered. Couldn't beat the price. Hopefully, it will fit right in.

Just need to find time to install...

Santa finally listened and brought me grip heaters. Woo hoo!

Lee2002 and I installed them this past Thursday when, somewhat ironically, the high was 71. Lee led the effort, with me for the most part supplying an extra set of hands. It's a really nice, clean install, with the wires all soldered and shrink-wrapped. The grips are relay-switched and fused, too.

I picked up a tool to surely piss off my neighbors!!!!

Got a 5 drawer rolling tool chest and a small air compressor, gift certificates for 2 massages, a cordless screwdriver, a sweet Gerber pocket knife, and a book (a religious reference book, about the timeline of the Bible), and 3 days off from the lab!!

Wife bought me one of those life time map updates from Garmin for my my Zumo 450. Once you get past all the PITA activation garbage Garmin makes you go through the update process is pretty straight forward and my street is now listed on the map. :laughing6-hehe:

I bought her a pair of motorcycle gloves and finished putting her bike back together for her motorcycle Christmas presents. Now we need the temperatures to get above freezing so we can go for a ride. :goofy:

I was fortunate to get a new helmet that actually fits well (comfy), and a pair of textile overpants.

And as noted - just getting to keep my arse married is perhaps the best gift - knowing how big of a pain I must be to live with....

If financially able go for it! You can do it, all it takes is time with the torch. There is a wealth of knowledge on both the Lincoln Electric and Miller web site, if you wait to know how you'll never get your welder :)

I did pretty well this year...finally got the wife and kids (as well a some extended family) conditioned :)

Motovation sliders from the wife - along with a new balancing/truing stand and various tire changing tools.
New tank pad and grips from the munchkins
And the monster-in-law got me a VFRness!

And I ended up with a 2011 WSBK/GP calendar in the old stocking :fing02:

I asked Santa for $1500 to spend on suspension upgrades but apparently I'm no good cuz he stood me up :owned:
