Rear Hugger

I have had to take of my R&G hugger a couple of days back. Its the second one that I have gone through in 8000km. Our roads in Nigeria cannot be said to be the best but 2 huggers in 8000km is slightly on the high side.

So I spend some time on the internet looking for tougher alternatives. Came across this and have it on its way to me.

Will post pics when I install it. I am hoping that it being CF and presumably of much better quality than the plastic R&G, will out live my bike :cheerleader:

they do good work, i think i just have a tank protector but u hear good things about them.

If you can bounce back from the sticker shock, me I wont be buying that.

Looking at the front lower part where it bolts on, if it were me I'd find some wide washers to bolt up to the hugger........ Looks nice.....

I wonder why huggers don't extend further back for more coverage of the tire. And why they all seem to be so expensive.

Because they're carbon fiber. And carbon fiber is magical.

They don't extend all the way back because the job of the hugger is to keep debris from flying into your rear shock.

Well, I understand that much. But if it extended a little more it would provide some protection for the undertail as well.

Even the non-carbon fiber ones are pricey.

They all might be pricey because the 1200 is still pretty new. Not a lot of competition, start up costs, ya ya ya.

Dunno about protecting the undertail of the bike. I don't care too much about it, as that's a cover to keep stuff out of your subframe.

They are just as pricey for the VFR800, pretty much where-ever you go and that's not new. Low-volume maybe? The Rivcyko hugger is actually one of the better deals, if he's still making them?

I thought you could pick up a pyramid hugger for under $200 easy, even in CF, for the 800's.

So you can. My mistake. I remember a few years ago not being able to find a decent one for a decent price. Pyramid may have been the brand I was told to avoid, but I clearly can't remember very well.
I guess I'm wrong--through the $200 CF ones are "carbon fiber look"

It is extremely rigid and the feel of quality is unbelievable!!!. The fit is really great and its clear that it was a well thought out design.

That's a nice looking item. I also would not need to ask about the currency conversion rate, (I assume the price is Au$), or the shipping costs.

The kind lady who handled the sale, Mary, gave me a discount. All told, it cost 450 Australian Dollars (shipping to Lagos included).

Did so already. It really is a great product. Spent some time today riding and at every stop i would catch myself looking at it. Am beginning to really like CF :lobby:
