Dropped my VFR1200F off at Zero Gravity today

I took my bike 39.4 miles from Studio City, Ca. to Camarillo, Ca. today and handed it over to Zero Gravity's designer.
I will be compensated by them to use my bike as a mold.

To the uninitiated, removing the wind screen is extremely complicated.
I found that out yesterday when it took me 2 hours to figure out the method using my Honda FSM which does not really tell you much, every piece of plastics has to come off to do anything to this bike.

It took me 60 seconds to remove the wind screen for them today.
I can't believe how easy it is, four 5mm allen screws and four 10mm nuts and it pops right off. :idea3:

I changed the air filter element, that is why the tank was up.

I am prepared to wait up to 14 days for the new screens to be done and then I will go pick up my bike but, they could have it done in less thna a week if all goes smoothly.

Yeh, I was going to say someone showed us a few weeks ago how the 7-Gen shield came off easy. It's hard when you can't see what's suppose to move, etc., the mystery of body parts.

the same thing crossed my mind as well. I was gonna say you'll have a hard time finding a shop to match that quality of painting.

I tried to make those arrangements a year ago, and they told me that all they needed was a stock windshield to work with (and that they had ordered one).. I guess they gave up (?)

They had a prototype stock replacement copied from an OEM screen with vacuuforming but, it was all wrong, so they did give up until I came along with my bike.
I like the guy's enthusiasm about taking on the job, he seemed to be excited about it unlike the wind screen he was making for a GSXR.
I had a Zero Gravity Double Bubble on my 2001 Blackbird and loved it, it worked well.

Dude told me that he was very proud of the Double Bubble he made for the CBR1100XX Blackbird, he should be proud because it was a masterpiece compared to the POS that Honda put on the bike in Japan.

I left the place feeling good about leaving my 1st ever new motorvehicle 39.4 miles away from my garage, I just hope it is going to be a shorter time away than they said it would be.

Yes, the Zero Gravity boss was at my house today to pick up the two pop out plastic shields that cover the screws on the wind screen so they could do the finishing touches and give me my bike back.
I removed the body work not trusting them to do so without breakinng or losing anything, I even demonstrated how to remove the old wind screen so they would not scratch my bike in the process.
They will have my bike done and back to me in a hurry, dude knows how impatient I am and has now seen how anal retentive I am by me letting him in my garage to see my immaculate CBX.

Same here.
Even thou there is every likelihood that one of the 1200's has been dropped by now, we do not particularly want to accept it.

That's pretty funny considering I had to come from at least one sexual encounter with my parents they say was the 1st, yeah right. I was born 8 months and 3 weeks after my parents wedding day, very typical of my Irish origins.

I am finally going to pick up my VFR from Zero Gravity today.
They asked me to bring my bodywork and assemble the bike there so they can take pictures, this is going to cost them extra because I hate working anywhere but, the privacy of my own garage.
I hope it goes together easier than it came apart so I can enjoy a peaceful 39.4 mile ride home plus the detour down Mulholland Hwy along the way, alone.
I need a little motorcycle therapy ater being very sick with bleeding ulcers for the past 3 weeks.
I will of course post pictures of the new wind screen and give a full report on the performance.

Ulcers? Ouch!!! Hope you're feeling better! ...you picked a great day to get the V12 back. I rode Mulholland to work today and it was BEAUTIFUL. Can't believe I'm stuck in this office all day! lol

I rode home via Mulholland from Kanan hitting the Snake twice for good measure.

1st bug that the last thing he saw was it's ass coming through his face on imact.
Ride report is good, the big windscreen I have on there is excellent at freeway speeds, no buffeting at all anymore.
If I {All 6'3" of me} slightly tuck in behind the screen, I can't hear any road or wind noise inside my Nolan N-103.

It is really nice, fits pretty damned good and it hides the stupid imitation vents that you can't reach to clean behind the stock clear screen.

It will take a while to remove the Honda OEM stock clear screen because of the two Philips screws that hold it to the middle cowl but, install will only take ten minutes after that, longer if you are inept with your hands and should not be doing it yourself anyway.
I learned a lot about my VFR1200F and how much is sucks to take off & replace the body work but, I did learn and can do the job in short order now.
No extra screws, bolts or push pins. Hahaha and I did not break any either, they really are easy to remove.
More pictures of the other screens when I feel better, I am still sick because of my ulcers and did a hell of a lot today.
Zero Gravity also used my bike for the photo shoot with all the different screens on her for display in the ZG catalogue.

Ive been using the stock screen with the laminar lip and am pretty happy with that one!

I have in hand the smoked/tinted tall Sport Tourer on the bike and a smoked/tinted stock sized replacement.

I will be getting my Double Bubble when I go back next week for them to do something we forgot about, shims to take up the 2mm of floppy space between the mirrors and the bracket because their plastic is half as thin as the OEM windscreen weighing less than half too. Even the tall one I have on the bike is weightless compared to the clear OEM screen.
They had my Double Bubble but, it was imperfect and they would not let me have it yet. It was good enough for the photoshoot but, not good enough for sale or compliments as I am getting mine.
I get 3 of Zero Gravity wind screens free for them using my bike as the mould and having kept her for an extra week but, I was sick and could not go get her anyway.
Zero Gravity hooked me up and is therefore hooking all of you up with some pretty nice product"s".
I was honored to do this and hope you all take full advantage of the Zero Gravity windscreens.
They will be reasonably priced and come with install instructions that are fairly easy to comprehend, I am a little stupid and did the best I could to assist with the directions.

currently they have the standard size, touring (5 inches taller then stock, and they are still currently working on a DB wind screen.....all of which will be in light or dark smoke

The main reason I went for the "dark smoked" screens {3 free} is to hide those false vents on either side of the center piece

above the headlight one cannot get into to clean without dis-assembling the front fairing and physically removing the windscreen unless they have 8" long very skinny fingers like this "grub" eating creature I saw on the National Geographic Wild Channel last week. :blink:
Besides the hiding of the uncleanable spaces, the dark windscreen really looks good on the red bike. :fing02:
The lighter smoked screens would look really good on those Euro model silver or white VFR1200Fs

ZG has been doing this for a 30+ and still have stuff in stock for some older bikes if anyone needs semi vintage windsreeens
Every mould they ever made for any model bike is still in house and can be reused at any time to make a new windscreen.
They have started reskinning seats too but, I already have a Corbin.

My ZG ST windscreen really makes a diffrerence in appearance.
