Pics of Modern Slip-Ons on Older VFR's please

Just looking to see if anyone has modern exhaust on an older VFR. I'm picturing it in my head but I'm not sure if I'm seeing it right so I'd like to see some pics. I'm sure someone here has done this. Any complications or issues? I plan to have the local muffler shop fab up the mid-pipes. Pics wanted, Suggestions and comments appreciated.

Mine isn't and "old" VFR but I had some R1 Titanium mufflers mounted by simply having the mid-pipe custom made. Basically you put the can where you want it, mount it, and then have the mid-pipe designed around that. It won't be dyno tuned for performance but truth be told the ones that are you only see 1-3 hp increases anyway and most of that is from weight savings. The issue you will need to look out for is leaning out your fuel curve so a jet kit might be in order depending on the results.

What kind of "older" VFR? Or do you mean VF(judging from your avatar pic?)

There are a great many people who have no idea how easy it can be to fit any sort of pipe to any old bike...

I think he's referring to my old VF1000R? I've seen RC51 upswept canisters on the R and wanted to go that direction. Erion had some nice looking mufflers for the RC that I thought would also work well. I'd really suggest the new midpipes. With that big rear wheel and offset sprocket the clearance between the chain and those big Kerker midpipes was very tight, I had to make an 'adjustment' to the pipe to keep the chain from slapping. I know the 4-1 exhaust isn't the most recommended but it would nice to get rid of that huge collector under the motor and open up the left side of the bike. Some examples:

Those Kerker canisters don't sound the greatest either, I've heard other pipes on R's that sound much better. But anything that's going to flow more will probably need a rejet.

Of course, leave it to the Previous Owner to come through!!!!! Thanks VfrCapn. That's exactly what I was looking for! It'll be awhile before I'm home (November) to start on the project but I have the time now to educate myself and possibly start buying what I can. Looking at the pics of mine the mid-pipes do look very big and I'm thinking a decent shop can make something better. I thought about a single sided set up but I really like the dual cans. Give's it a more muscular look in my opinion. Besides, I'm not going for more power. I won't be racing it or anything. Re-jetting will definitely be something I'll be looking into also depending on how she runs once the new cans are fitted. Of course now I'm getting wwwaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy ahead of myself. I still have to get the forks done and the wheels powder coated and this and that. God bless my wife for understanding.

Yes, I apologize, I should have been more specific. The bike in question would be my 85 VF1000R. I've drooled over VF1000RS's garage many times and like what he's done although I think some of his creations are way beyond my imagination. I'm looking for something a little more "pedestrian" like just replacing the mid-pipe and cans and keeping them in a relativley same location as stock. Maybe a lil higher after removal of the passenger pegs (don't need them anyway).

Wholly Crap! Lookit the swingarm on that thing. Then look at the frame, now back to the swingarm.

The dual set up would be the easiest to do, you can use just about any mufflers and make mid-pipes to connect 'em. I have a set of supertrapps off a Ducati 900 on mine, with an adapted CBR1100XX mid pipes...
